Jack is shockingly fucking quick with those hands too, I like to flip flop from Jack to a few others but I have liked Jack since Tekken Tag 1 with Prototype Jack and Gunjack and the speed upgrade he got from Tekken Tag 1/Tekken 3 to Tekken 5 (He wasn't in 4) is mind boggling to me to this day, he went from like average human speeds weirdly enough to full on I'm gonna robot shotgun arm your face at the speeds unseen by human eyes.

It makes perfect sense that among the characters you've tried, Paul in higher ranks is the one who suffers the most... He is basically a scrub killer, but has a very simple gameplan. So whenever people start to avoid and punish deathfist and demoman, you have to be way smarter in order to get a win. With Yoshi and Kuma you can throw your shenanigans and eventually win even with way more skillful players

fleshed out paul main here, the heat move is pretty strong because it‘s a demo man that doesnt need close range and knocks down even on tip range. Also it‘s -12 on block so it‘s not that much of a risk. Basically you can apply pauls 50/50 without much of a risk and within situations it‘s usually not possible, especially with the deathfist being -13 ok block in heat instead of -17. quick tip: you get a guaranteed shoulder after ss3 hits on counter. Edit: you also cannot low parry the heat move

19:10 it's a low heat smash, so you can catch people off guard if they're wary of the death fist, and it's great for hazard walls. It is more situational than others, so it is context dependent and will see less use if heat dashing is a more viable option depending on the combo or stage.

I think Paul is one of the absolute best characters to pick up if you want to get better at Tekken basics. Like you can abuse his evasive moves, throws, and demo man to get some success at early ranks, but you plateau fairly soon unless you start actually playing Tekken. In a game with so many characters with incredibly powerful tools, Paul's simplicity helped me so much with learning Tekken back in T7 and now in T8!

Only played Tekken 3, back in my childhood. Paul was probably my favourite character back then. For no particular reason, I just thought he had cool hair, better than Street Fighter's Guile. Dumb younger me had no idea fighting game characters had different ways to play and such. Good to know he's still around in the series. Dudes lookin' pretty aged. I know jack all about the series, story and/or character relevance, but he never struck me as someone that seemed particularly important to the series, and what little I'd seen of the games over the years, I never saw anyone playing him. I dig your perspective on him. Doesn't mean a whole lot to me since I don't play, but good to know child me at least had good taste in character, even if I had no idea how to play him properly. The Johnny Bravo look is amazing.

when the tekken machines first popped up in the local arcade and bowling alley i thought that Paul was supposed to be the main character of the series. he had the karate man gi i was familiar with from street fighter, the stupid anime hair, and the machine's hook trailer heavily featured him on the motorcycle.

I’m excited to see what character you pick next. Just so you know Asuka can do a special unbreakable grab from ki charge, Leroy’s taunt is also a parry (on top of his normal parry), and Bryan’s taunt is a 0 damage attack that apparently is used in high level combos. Just thought I would give you some ideas for characters with some bm moves, as you seem to have fun creating playstyles that let you take advantage of those fun things.

Bryan's taunt is an unblockable that gives plus frames and can true combo into some of his biggest hits, notably Jet Upper, which is a class 4 launcher. It can give him 100/0 setups at the wall too

Demo man and heat smash are really good panic moves. Giving heat smash a follow up would be nuts as it's a faster demo man, very easily a move that would take little adjustment to break. It's why they have really short trange, and why paul makes an effective turtle. Try to aggress him, and he'll find a gap for a d1+2, df2, df1-1-2, heat smash, or demo man.

Try Steve Fox next, you will love his fast punches and his stances. Plus it’s satisfying whenever as Steve you did a counter attack on your opponent. Plus as Steve you can push your opponent at the wall and not letting them escape which is awesome

The thing with Paul's heat smash is that he don't need any more mids, and you usually condition your opponent to keep blocking stand instead of ducking, so a heat smash comes outtanowhere. It's almost like his Demoman, but stronger and less unsafe (Demoman is -17 on last hit block or -31 on first hit block, while his heat smash is only -12), also, unlike his Demoman, the heat smash don't need a Clean Hit effect to work and deal 45 damage. And like... thank God a move like this don't have any follow up, it's not OP or anything, but would make it unnecessarily too strong.
