I would say that Dragunov will be at least A tier because of his grappler traits being buffed by CH throws situations and mehcanics changes from T8 which already makes him perform better than other characters. Besides that his wall travel will remain the same or be vene better than already was on T7 and his fff4 is now an extension for wall combos which certainly guarantees great combo damage. The only thing that is keeping him away from being an B or S tier imo is that we gonna need to see how his Heat is gonna affect and change overall matches.

I don't think fff4 will do much for his wall combo. It triggers the new bound as we saw in his trailer, so it probably will only work if you don't use the bound before you get them to the wall

Raven is a very underrated and unique character indeed, but to do very good with him you need to play very risky, because many of his moves end in his backturn where he's very vulnerable, you need to be very versatile and unpredictable with him, I mainly use him because he resemble Naruto characters in his fighting style and because of his unorthodox approach, for me he's B+ and maximum A in the right hands of use in the Tier List, because he's the type of High Risk-High Reward character. ☯️ 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@nabedesu7708 Raven in T8 he's very unique, sick and dope so far... but only thing that they buff are his pokes, his Soulzone Stance it's leagues better than Master Raven's Haze Stance because the transition of moves are coming quicker, but he still has no 15 frame launcher or a solid 15 frame punish, his hopkick remains to be a joke of a oribital heel, but that's all fine because not every character in the game should have the same tools, so he still remains to some degree very unsafe. His one good low down 3 use to be plus but got nerfed, so now his neutral lows are't very solid and all of his stance lows are launch punishable. All of his shadows are 14 frame punishable so it is more in the opponents favor to interrupt him, he also lost his Magic 4, d/f4 and qcf 1 no longer launches on hit or counter hit, his backturn grabs are gone, because you can do now only generic grabs from his BT. So they turned him into an unsafe character relying mostly only on his mix ups gimmick to do very good with him in the right hands of use of course. So when most characters in this game are mix up characters they just get more reward and less punishment. If they at least made some of his shadows -12 on block then I think that it would make him a lot better, other than that he's gonna rely mostly on his Shenanigans. 🤷🏻‍♂️☯️✌️

definitely not S tier. I’ve been playing him since T7 and also playing the cracked demo with Shaheen lol. Trust me he’s just 10% better than T7 Shaheen. He is nothing compared to some of the other characters. To name a few, Jin, Azu, Kaz, Steve, Hwo, Claudio, Bryan, King, etc. he is lacking like crazy compared to those and more

New DEN 3 seems strong, but you need to go into DEN for it, new df2 is garbage, new 2,1 is okay but the same as old DEN and SEN - mixups only on hit, so I'd say new game, same weaknesses. But boy oh boy is Lars more fun to play now

Alisa has nerfs to db3 (-2 block). 4 and 2,4 and f2,1 are no longer wall splat/bounce (or knockdown). Power crush has new ub2 input, so can be done from crounch (and splats, so good at wall). New 2:2 i12 punisher seems insane. i13 punish is heat engager. Can back/forward dash normally in chainsaws, which is huge. Chainsaws also chip. New i15 mid string in chainsaws, which launches on heat (needs dash). Hellsweep in dual boot. More damaging wall combo (db1 2 f2,3,3) with better oki. Apparently the neutral -> chainsaw transitions in heat are power crushes (consume 1/3 of heat bar). Buffs are quite big. Only big nerf is the magic 4. But it’s her main homing tool, and all her good mids track to the same side.

He retains all the same advantages he had in t7 that everyone lost (CH game), has a new legit 50/50 mix from grab, guard breaks and evasive stance pressure. In heat, he has the launchers you say hes missing, which he gets every round. Steve rarely uses b2 17f launcher regardless as is in t7, pro play or not. I play at tekken god ranks on PC regularly against these competitive players, btw lol. 2 of my friends were in LCQ today .

That's why he was so strong, like tournament level strong in the CNT. But, then they ripped his balls off in the CBT. It doesn't matter how the gameplay mechanics are tipped in his favor if he no longer has reliable tools to use them with anymore, besides ff2. If you played the character beyond Dan level, you'd realize how the balance changes neutered him going from CNT to CBT.

Raven easy A tier, lots of changes, new stance that is WAY BETTER than haze, the only thing nerfed was the BT d4, but in exchange his BT 1+2 got buffed and now knocksdown like Maven before the nerfs. giant wall carry, infinite mixups and ALOT of options are safe. ALSO his heat smash can hard punish wiffs and has a long range, does a sht ton of chip dmg too, also his clones are empowered during heat. he's still the 50-50 risky dude, but a sick trickster to deal with

Which heat grabs do you mean? The unblockable tackle will likely be interrupted by most players since it is reactable. Besides that we only saw 4,3 into guaranteed crouch throw heat engager, and 4,3 is punishable as far as i know.

DJ I'd say is B at best, still the same nerfed BS from T7 and more but with some improvements. His neutral skip is cool but it sucks that every option out of stance is mid,mid,mid so no mixup there!His combo damage is good and heat is decent but that's about it really. DF2 now being a move that does literally nothing is weird, ff 3,1,3 being gone is stupid because the new 2 option has no use outside of combos, so that's a mixup gone. ff2 side steppable, cd 1+2 slow initializing frames, subsceptible to CH, UF4 still no knockdown, df1,2 which was vital to his poking game is replaced with a shitty mid, high that only is a natural combo on CH but can't be hit confirmed. It really seems that demvil jim is now a hellsweep character primarily. The easiest way to describe DJ right now IMO is that he's a tekken 7 character stuck in a new game with a powered up roster. Can't see him doing well at all but I'd be happy to be proven wrong when the game releases as he's super fun.

Agreed he doesn’t have any dependable power mids except from stance which are slow Ff2 and iws2 are his best mids but the other stuff is fluff. He still suffers the same issues and actually got worse in neutral. Changes to df1,2 and no ch df2 REALLY hurt. So all those cool combos we see don’t matter if you can’t open them up consistently.

@@JustAnte9557 Asuka's parry no longer wallsplats and your opponent gets grey health instead of taking full damage. The fact that Jun is stronger than T7Asuka in every single way possible and safer. On top of that they gave Jun a 50/50 from her jab string and the best 10-frame punish in the game. Jun ss4 is plus 8 on block and is a heat engager plus puts the opponent in crouch meanwhile asuka ss2 is minus 13. db1 being safe for asuka was to allow her fight certain bad match ups better, instead all of her bad match are worst and on top of it all characters now have heat smash which counters all of the defensive options asuka has besides block which doesn't matter do to it being plus on block or minus 14. tbh asuka in this game doesn't make sense since every thing in the game is design to counter her gameplan.

If MainMan's is anything to go by, Lee's gonna be the dark horse again. I believe in the Mr. XLNT, tho. Strong punishes, easy access to heat (11 frame heat engager, ff3, df4,4 which is guaranteed after a bunch of stuff), and stay in heat all round. Strong combos and wall carry too.

You’re wrong, AZUCENA IS S GRADE…Harada confirmed his intention was to make her stand out the most out of the female lineup, even more than Reina…and of the biggest standouts in the game overall. He said his team then proceeded to make her too powerful and that she will need to be tweaked later on, but that she will still remain one of the strongest. He said this in his Harada’s Bar episode, go check out. So, Azucena is definitely top tier, S grade.

Kuna/Panda are F tier now. All their safe lows became launch punishable. His db2 went form -13 to launch. He does not have a single low that isn’t launch anymore besides FC1. These were already the most unsafe characters and now you can launch them for anything.

RE: whether there is a need for buffs for a char to be high tier compared to previous game, I think is a bit of an overrated/unnecessary metric. Tiers are always comparative, so whether someone like Law has received buffs doesn't do much unless **EVERYONE ELSE** is buffed.

Devil Jin is just a little more powerful than T7. In previous game, after last season patch, he became one of the weakest character in the game... The reality is that DVJ needs strong fundamentals, there are no shortcuts. He is certainly all round mishima but he has no reliable mid/low mix up, so crouching is 80% the right choice while fighting DVJ. Dunno, i don`t think he will be strong enough to be a good choice in competitive/High rank gameplay

In low ranks, he can abuse the f 1+4 into mourning crow. But that's about it, really. The powercreep is just real in tekken 8 that those buffs aren't good enough to compete with Jin or Jack.

Gotta be honest, I know this is free/easy content for fgc creators and this isn’t specifically targeting TMM, but maaan do I hate early tier lists. First, and most importantly this tier list will mean nothing in a month or so after the meta develops. Second and equally important, tier lists does not matter to 95% of the player base. And no, you dear reader, are not in that 5%. Tiers are only important at high level. At the exact same time, I do love hearing the opinions of whatever creator I’m watching, even with the lack of data, but then there’s the dorks out there who take this opinion as gospel. It’s a double edged sword I tell you hwat.

I call it : Yoshimitsu will be (or will be called) S Tier and gets nerfed to death in the first patch. He has so much stuff now that there is no way he is on the level he is now because the guessing game is greatly improved. Also way more health regen than now and they had the goal to improve is No Sword Stance to make it much more viabile. He is such a difficult character to ballance because he breaks the law of the game so much. If his frames are better than they were and less stuff is launch punishabile, there is a big chance he's not staying good for long. On the other side he got great nerfs already because so many of is launchers are instant bound moves so his combo damage should be trash most of the time. I just hope he's better than in Tekken 7 and they don't kill is potential because he deserves it. Better frames less hard punish attacks and less unblockabiles and he is good to go.

@@cosmic5665 Correction. Characters strengths matter in the Beginner-Intermediate and Pro tiers. A strong character will DEFINITELY carry a weaker player against other players of comparable skill levels using lesser characters. Once we get to the more advanced levels of gameplay - it's the player's fundamentals that are the fulcrum upon which the match swings. And once we get to pro tier - everybody has such strong fundamentals, that characters strengths, or lack of thereof - become crucial again in tipping the balance.

TMM, with Tekkens 8s lower input delay and better netcode, I think most decent players are going to be at least blocking a distinctive 23f attack on reaction. I don’t you'll be able to abuse that in a similar way to Jins new low, those 2 frames are too much of a difference.

@@mhead1117 I assume you mean Asuka, in which case I think "mid" is incredibly generous. One of the least interesting character designs. I'd honestly even prefer Lee's new design to Asuka's, because even though it's goofy, it at least gets my attention. And for gameplay she sucks ass. Her linking strings were the most interesting part of her kit, and they cut more than half of that. And the majority of her other signature tools got heavily nerfed or outright removed.
