Man, if only we could get an actually serious Tekken game again. More grounded stories like this, with the king of iron fist tournament, and less DBZ/anime nonsense like we see now. Hearing the Tekken 4 prologue music really drove this home for me. Great video.

I've been a fan since childhood, but having turned 30 it's safe to say I'm no longer the target demographic lmao. Tekken is just courting the younger crowd, as it likely always has, and younger Zoomers and gen Alpha like memes, shounen anime, coomer bait and nostalgic callbacks to times before they were born. I'm still a casual fan and player, but that's just the way it is. Tekken's always been a fun blend of semi-serious and semi-comedic, but yeah, outside of the Jin/Kazuya stuff Tekken 8 is leaning too far into full comedy. It's also becoming way too "anime", I mean I know it's always been anime inspired, but we've now crossed over into full DBZ/Naruto power level with the Devil shit And I said all that without talking about the gameplay, specifically the goddamn heat mechanic which overemphasizes aggression over defence or spacing, and causes some matches to devolve into slugfests, just to make a spectator sport for dorks who go to watch Evo but have never picked up a controller in their life. Still, Reina looks like one of the best new characters in a long while, I might main her when I pick up Tekken 8.

I know that the King introduced since Tekken 3 is actually one of the orphanage kids who took up the torch of the original after he died (the one that Loresmith shows in this video as a nice fanservice), but still I think he deserves some moments to shine in canon.

Vague Spoiler warning. The first kings storey was so motivating to bad it ended the way it did o well it worked for dramatic tension but only if you did the research since they don’t make it clear so our tell you. This wrestler in teeken 4 through present In teeken 8.?is not the same adult we saw in teeken 1 2 an before the end cut scene of kings ending in teeken 3. At least with armor king they don’t show what happened to him but they tell you in the open dialogue of king 2 storey arcade mode in teeken 4 what happened. So when another armor king show up in the special addition of teeken 5 it makes sense it’s teeken take on the sub zero and sub zero brother storey ark to an extent.
