If you need a good laptop for a good price, just get some used Thinkpad with 8th gen i5 or newer (if you are gonna run Windows, for Linux it doesn't matter that much).

My craptop is an old Thinkpad with a Pentium 4405U (10 year old 15W dual core) and with a basic Arch + Hyprland install that thing feels completely normal to use, in some instances even snappier than Windows 11 on good hardware that isn't outdated. That laptop has twice the single core performance and double the core count, it will fly if you don't bog it down with bloat.

idk your prices but in my country (which isn't cheap, with imported goods) you can buy 16/512 honor with 6-8 core ryzen apu with decent graphics and slick aluminum chassis for 350-400 bucks. and less reputable chinese brands go even cheaper than that.
