Very nice! I have a couple of smaller moldavites I got years ago when they were cheaper. Also have a couple of small pieces of indochinite and a small LDG. Will have to keep an eye out for some nice ones above 100grams.

It is possible that tektites have magnetism as metiorites ? I just found a bunch of tektites in the desert that shows magnetic field...
@TopherspinMeteorites Жыл бұрын
No. They are glass formed from melted silicas. Meteorites do not have a "magnetic field" either. Some do react to a magnet by being atracted to it.

Oh man those last 2 piece of Libyan Desert Glass were just unreal!!! I also have a thing for tektites. Its glass, but created from impacts! The reason Im here. Ive been searching the web for sometime now and have tried to find something that looks close to what Ive found. Nothing but Georgiaite comes close. Its Orange with tons of dimples with this blueish char coating over it. Its pretty small, about 4.5grams. I made a vid here on youtube asking if anyone knows what it is, even posted it to Reddit rock identifying group but all they said its a agate or just didnt have a clue. I dont think it is an agate and more tektite. Im on a search to find any info on it what so ever. Anything would be useful to know. I wont link to my channel or anything like that but if you search these words, you should find the vid. If you could take a look and let me know what you think, or anyone reading this could let me know too, would be muchly appreciated!! heres what to search for ---> Libyan Desert Glass, Common Tektite, And what is the Orange one?

This might be a stupid question..but how do we know for sure that all achondrites actually come from a certain planet,,like if we have a really rare one. I'm thinking if a meteorite hits says the moon. Sits there for 3 billion years and it absorbes the atmosphere of that planet and then another meteorite comes and throws it back into orbit again..we know the atmosphere etc of the moon ,but that doesn't prove the material itself is actually from that planet.?

I don't offer free services to help ID stones. I am not a trained Geologist. Do you believe that you really have a meteorite? Submit pictures to: facebook.com/groups/isitameteorite or facebook.com/groups/meteorite.or.meteorwrong. The power of the Facebook Groups I recommend is that there are a bunch of knowledgeable geologists and meteorite people in there.
