excellent comparison video! Thanks so much for taking the time and for focusing on the playing and sonic comparison!

They all sounded good. A talented player can make any machine shine. If I had to pick the best, it would be the G&L, but it would be a close call.
@revelationsoundstudio11 жыл бұрын
I liked the G&L the best. It is the most advanced Tele that Leo made. Classic sound with today's technology. The only Tele with a great front pick up as well.

Picked up an Asat thinline last November. It has the controls where I want them, and doesn't have a squirrely looking pick gaurd. Oh yeah, it plays smoothly and sounds great. One of my buds liked it so much he got one too.

Really like the G&L far more versatile, but maybe not quite the Tele twang. I have the S500 prefer to my Custom shop Strat.

Just bought a G&L S-500 tribute made in japan. It's absolutely soulful tone I've been looking for. Played Fenders and had a Fender telecaster MIJ earlier which I thought was better than the American ones which were more. The one I bought is 1990 and in such good shape. The neck is incredibly straight and frets, intonation perfect. All for $600 out the door.

The G&L ASAT Special model is another great Telecaster one might check out. All the classic Tele tones plus a little fatter and warmer tone overall due to the MFD pups which are a little more P-90-ish too.
@MintStiles11 жыл бұрын
The Japanese Fender had the most Chime, but is the thinnest one. The USA had the best harmonics and the G&L had the strongest fundamentals. Each to his own. I find the USA one had the most "soul" and the G&L had the "grunt". The Japanese one was good, just no better than a really good modern day Squier (actually a complement).

@davesaidwhat10 жыл бұрын
All three sound incredible, but since this was presented a versus-versus... I prefer the G&L because it's a little rounder, more mid tones. But you could easily argue the Fenders have more character. The Fenders are definitely quackier. And the Japanese model is the brightest/thinnest, which is why some players prefer Teles. Trying to be more objective: I thought the G&L reacted best with the effect pedals. The G&L's "voice" sounds more consistent through its demo, like it's being enhanced by the overdrive/boost. Whereas the Fenders sound more like they're being altered -- a subtle difference (slightly more distorted?). ...but what really makes this a great video is the composition and the playing. Forget the guitars, I want his fingers!

I looked for the amazing twang for a number of moths, played a bunch of new American standards, custom shops, vintage, really vintage, MIJ and CIJ...... there are noticeable differences between guitars of the same origin and model, but what I found consistent (tone and playability) was the custom shops, late 80's, and early 90's MIJ ,.. I ended up getting a 93 Jap that is particularly good, competing head to head with high profile custom shops and vintage(50's and 60's) at a competitive price.... my advice, play them all cause they are made out of wood and no tree is the same, however, if you don't have the time to search, then play safe and go for a custom shop !!
