@@kbadr I bought a G&L Tribute ASAT Special Deluxe (that's a mouthful) Those pickups are awesome! They're not P-90s and have almost the output of a P-90 but Jumbo MFDs are way brighter. P-90s always seem kind of dark and middy to me and at worst muddy. The G&L, on the other hand, is really punchy and bright, but not ice-picky like some teles can be. I can still get some passable tele tones out of the bridge but it's a completely different animal. Always in your face, punchy and bright, a total rock and roll machine that does double duty as a country guitar. Listen to Band of Susans they built their whole band around that pickup.

@@thomask.9850 no these are very heavy in general. Tribute are not the USA line. They will not be as good as this axe he played here. That is the third Tele style guitar I've ever heard that I love the sound of and it didn't ice-pick my brain like so many others do. THANK YOU! ❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️

She’s purty!! What do you think of the Nash strats? Was thinking the might be better than the American fenders , other than the custom shops .Think I might get one , one day when the ol lady ain’t looking

Great review! Finally someone who will play simple chords to show the range of the strings lows and mids and stuff like that instead of only solos like NO ONE would USE chords for a great songs ;)

Great review Phill ! You mentioned wanting to put a humbucker in the neck - I'm assuming you could put a hot rail or similar in there ??

For a smaller frame guy I would love a Tele with an arm and belly cut.

The title of this vid is "why doesn't Fender do this". Well he actually did it, this guitar is designed by Leo Fender. The certificate is also signed by his wife 😅😅😅 If Leo didn't sell the company on '65, I'm sure Fender (brand) will release guitars similar to this ASAT guitars with MFD pickups, six saddle brass etc. Except if it's under Fender, the headstock shape will remain the same.

I currently own a Comanche Tribute and an ASAT Deluxe semi-hollow. I owned and foolishly sold a S500 Deluxe. All of my G&Ls are great guitars that blow away a Fender dollar for dollar. They are not identical, and the pups definitely have a different sound - similar but different and better.

when you buy a G&L your in Fender Custom Shop Territory. Why more artists dont use em baffles me. I own an ASAT Classic Rustic Tele thats absolutely amazing and got it for the same price as a 52 RI -no regrets here it's a far superior instrument.

ordered a G&L custom build 2 years ago prior to my second daughter being born. Got myself a nice ASAT classic in shell pink, spec'd to just how I like it and it also happened to be through music store live (they have yet to let me down). All for less than a Fender American Pro. It was perfect right out of the box and has stayed that way.

Fantastic guitar. I’ve owned half a dozen G&Ls over the years, and they are wonderful instruments. Huge bang for the buck, too.

Love G&L they make lovely stylish guitars, and i heard the set up is genarally spot on, that is a lovely butterscotch, really pretty Tele.

Looks fantastic! Middle position was really buttery and nice. Love the combo of new and old. All the good stuff that makes the guitar play better combined with all that cool, vintage look. 👍

Everything about this seems awesome, but for some reason the more I look at it the uglier it gets, and I can’t figure out why 🤔🤔

2 things are a turn off and hurt g&l popularity and therefore resale value.. #1. the headstock .. #2 the look of the pickups. --

That's too bad because I really like those things about G&L. The ASAT headstock is probably my least favorite of their offerings but it's not at all a bad looking headstock in my opinion. Their pickups (MFDs) are awesome and I like the fact that they look different because they ARE different.

The thing that irritates me the most about G&L is that they weren't really selling guitars until they put out Strat and Tele look alikes but I guess it's the consumers that really irritate me. If you want a Fender go buy a Fender. Their SC guitars were some of the best looking guitars ever in my opinion and if I had to describe the F-100 it would be this: Imagine the Strat is that hot girl at school and she goes away on summer vacation. When she returns she's put on a little bit of weight but she put it on in all the right places.
