In full: Rachel Reeves gives major speech at Labour conference

Rachel Reeves has refused to rule out a shake-up to council tax bands at the Budget next month.
The Chancellor was asked about a pamphlet in which she said council tax was “overdue a reevaluation and a revision of existing bands”.
She told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “Well, that’s a pamphlet I wrote seven years ago and since then we’ve gone through some difficult times.
“We’re not going to be bringing in a wealth tax, but there will be a number of difficult decisions around tax and spending and welfare.”
Ms Reeves will address the party faithful on the second day of Labour’s annual conference at midday.

Reeves dressed to up to the nines. Oh dear, oh dear, while choosing to take from our elderly people most who are already struggling . Reeves has the audacity to take away their winter fuel payment a further kick in the teeth. It is absolutely evil and cruel it will come back to bite her.

Yes, it has echoes of Thatcher "snatching" the school milk. Did her a lot of damage to public perception. Pensioners are the same for Reeves. As if stopping their winter fuel was the most important issue requiring immediate action by labour! Many people now asking, what on earth have we elected here?? People with very poor judgement is I think the answer. Bring back Sunak & Hunt, they were safer hands I think.
