To the point made about Britain and Keir Starmer being low in US's prioritie: it has been that case for a very long time. Cameron basically begged Obama to come to the UK to tell the country they'll be "in the back of the queue if they vote Brexit" to hope that will convince remain vote. Then, when Obama was doing his global farewell tour just before leaving office, he went to Germany to meet with Merkel. That should've marked the end of the use of "special relationship" nonsense. Trump did not involve Theresa May or Boris Johnson in anything. And Biden ignored the UK his entire term. All Trump wanted was the red carpet treatment by Queen Elizabeth II and he got it. Can we please move on?

Trump is more forgiving than people think he is. And the US/UK special relationship rests on a cultural affinity that isn't going anywhere. Having said that, the UK's appalling new habit of jailing people for speech crimes may eventually force the US into the embarrassing situation of granting political asylum to Brits who'd other go to jail for expressing opinions that Starmer's ilk find unacceptable.

Given labour's behaviour towards him it deserves to be. A good demonstration of their incompetance to behave in such a childishly partisan fashion.

Since 1776 in fact. The "special relationship" has been a British fantasy for too long. If the USA think of us at all it's as a kind of aircraft carrier. An absurd number of Americans can't even point to the UK on a map.

I think President Trump should simply refuse to accept the credentials of the new British ambassador. Let the charge d'affaires run the embassy for four years.

What is this 'special relationship'. There hasn't been one for a number of decades. America decides and the UK follows; Lammy has zero principles, so he'll be walking back his remarks. If there is a relationship, it is: When America wants to go to war, Britain will support them, which is utterly pathetic.

Because the UK -- and NATO -- are dependent on america for 90% of NATOs striking power and the security of the Euro-Socialist countries.

Agreed. Both countries need to go their separate ways. America gains nothing from this "special relationship."

There is no special relationship, it was just trotted out to justify sending British troops to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Got to give Kier Starmer some credit for staying professional and sensible. He might not personally like Trump, but at least he is grown up enough to understand that he has to work with whoever is in power.

It's not like he has a choice. Is it? 😂😂 Tail between the legs for free gear, keir

the reality is that Starmer is slightly to the right of Trump
