Contrary to Joe Barnes' claim at 31:48, Russia is not spending 30+% of its GDP on defence. It is projected to spend 7.1% of its GDP on defence in 2024, which is just under 30% of its state budget (figures according to SIPRI: "Spending under the budget chapter ‘national defence’ is expected to account for 29 per cent of total budget expenditure. This means that total military expenditure will increase to 7.1 per cent of GDP in 2024."). Also note that this 2024 spending is much higher than 2023, where it was 5.6% of GDP. It is extremely troubling when reporters appear unable to distinguish GDP from the state budget, and conflate 30% of the state budget with 30% of GDP. At least Dom was able to save him, but it's an incredibly embarrassing mistake.

What annoys me is the idea that growing the British Army must be done at the expense of the Navy. We need to have both if we are going to be taken seriously. It isn't beyond the ability of the UK to have an army of 100,000+ men and 300-500 tanks. We just need to pay for it.

The idea of channeling the Russians into 'killing zones' is a notable point. Because just as the Russian defence line with dragons teeth and mines prevents the Ukrainians from advancing eastward, it prevents the Russians from moving westward, forcing them to take roads and other routes that can be easily targeted. But if the West is failing to deliver supplies or is constantly late in doing so, the Ukraine military cannot reliably commit to pursuing its own agenda and will continue to be forced back. Unfortunately, as we see with America and Germany, political dithering is not only prolonging the war, it increasingly pushes the effect of a regional conflict onto the global agenda. It is political and historical illiteracy that prompted American politicos to push Putin to the point where he had a pretext to take Crimea and then pursue of program of 'liberation' for the eastern provinces. Mind, the anti-Russia nationalists in those territories did much to fuel that fire, despite Zelinskyy's efforts to undo the harm done by his predecesor.

So sick of the false “ Putin was pushed” narrative. No one pushed Putin. He has schemed this for 20 years. His ability to convince dolts otherwise is testament to his KGB training. “Russia feels threatened- take all Ukraines defensive nukes and send them to Russia”. Still using that ruse, and successfully.

More than 30 NATO troops could have been annihilated as a result of the destruction of two Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems in the Pokrovsk region of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), former American army officer Stanislav Krapivnik told MK. According to the military expert, it was probably US military personnel servicing the air defence systems, although military men from other alliance countries could also be there. "For example, the Germans use Patriot systems as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that the British were there too. A group of British military men was eliminated during the previous attack tapering the Patriot," Krapivnik said. It is usually 20-30 people that service one battery of two Patriot air defence missile launchers, the expert added. The Russian army destroyed two launchers of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system that were located less than 40 kilometres from the front line, at a distance of less than ten meters from each other. According to experts, it was the American air defense system that came under attack.

I don't know all the answers either, but if you'd ask me, Id's have to say Russia's a geopolitical, fascist, introverted societal & humanitarian disaster just waiting to happen. Is NATO encroaching on Russia's "historically territories', or is Russia simply unable to properly govern them anymore without having to resort to the use of force? Say Ukraine wins & joins NATO, emboldening 15 different others to all want to jump ship too, then what? We need to prepare for these type scenarios.

About tanks reliability and some such like tactical manoeuvering, in which I (as a former TC) have some experience, the enemy has a rather powerful vote in that too. As I was all too aware of in my poor old Centurion MK5/2 in the late 1970s where I trained to gain some measure of proficiency against possible opponents in that timeframe. It is all fine and dandy to be aware of where the 'Beast' may safely navigate, but once kenetic effect from the side of the esteemed opponent comes into play, the matter can rapidly become a bit more hairy and will limit the perspective along lines of actual possibilities and capabilities. Taking weather and terrain in Ukraine at current juncture in time and conditions that apply (as being vastly different compared to desert environment(s)) and having to deal with serious adverse attentions from the side of the opponent, I can imagine that some adjustments in vehicle configuration (engine!!!) and logistics would be in order to facilitate improved operation in the given conditions. If war is anything of a (grim) game, then it is one in which rapid adaptation of the holy trinity of tank configuration plays a vast and crucial role. Certainly in tank warfare.

This didnt happen and why in situation Most the time its obvious the last thing they want is for nato to join in, its been in almost every speech yet the west thinks by denying him that he cqnt win yet is actually playing into hia hands wuch as the advqnces which have been made. We are better informed about the views of the Ukraine / Russian war from the populations of Europe & the US, than we are from the population of Ukraine. I'd like to know what the spectrum of opinion is in Ukraine, not just those determined to continue, whatever the cost until 'victory.' Only an election could give every Ukrainian a voice. ( Zelensky changes the law as it suits him, of course it's possible ).

It's entirely possible that Joe Biden's open border policy could cost Ukraine dearly. I wish I didn't have to vote for Trump . . . But we have seen the terrible destructive results of the open border, and it has to stop. As a U.S. citizen, I have to put the safety of my family ahead of Ukraine.

A small note as to the challengers gun, as far as im aware the challengers gun is less accurate than its contemporaries due to being rifled. Most modern rounds especially anti tank are fin stabilized and spinning a fin stabilized round causes it to tumble so great effort must be put into the design of the round to counteract the force of the rifling. That being said, i am not a tank commander nor an engineer. this info is mostly from what ive seen Nicholas Moran talk about for why countries went to smoothbore or rather why with the introduction of fins rifling went away.

The "30% of which 6% is actually used..." part, it just reminds me of that funny quote of "60% of the time, it works every time" from the Anchorman film. russia using its so called funny mathmatics is kinda halfway reassuring as if they say 30%, it feels like they also know that it also isn't going to be a 30% and just gamble what number it'll end up actually being if the lob the money into the cage.
