Blood-covered Household Cavalry horses run loose through London

Five people have been injured after several Household Cavalry horses bolted and ran loose through central London.
At least one soldier was hurt after a spooked horse smashed into cars outside the Clermont Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria. Pictures also show an injured man lying on the floor on Fleet Street.
Five Household Cavalry horses, including one covered in blood, were also seen charging through other areas of London including Tower Bridge and the Strand.

As an equestrian this horrifies me. Having your horse bolt on the road is my worst nightmare. I’ve seen my friend’s horse go through the windshield of a car (car had no way to know the horse was going to bolt out of a side road in front of it; driver and passenger survived, the horse had to be euthanised. I had to crawl into the wrecked car to hold his head and keep him calm under the vet arrived). The grey horse covered in blood - I know it looks white but it’s actually classed as grey as it has grey skin; white horses have pink skin - was limping but like most prey animals it’ll keep moving in its panic. It seems like it was the one that slipped over, hopefully it’s just superficial injuries and a twisted ankle that’ll need rest. Well done to the man who caught that horse; he seemed to know what he was doing.

He was very lucky the horse was spent out, the guy could easily have been harmed and cause even more chaos. Leave the care of these animals to professionals.

All five horses involved in the incident are now captured, safe and being given the best possible vetinary treatment. According to Radio 2 earlier today, the horses were spooked by workmen this morning, laying cement in the road. Two of the horses (probably the injured grey and the black horse) were able to gallop a distance of 5 miles from the scene of the accident in Buckingham Palace road. 4 people have been injured as a result of the incident. No further details given.

I don’t think anyone has any idea how highly trained these horses are , they are desensitised to so much - only have to look at the footage of back in the 80’s when a nail bomb went of during a parade to understand just how desensitised they are. After the white horse slams into the parked double decker bus at the 00:10 time code mark, the beautiful horse appears to have blood in it's nostrils, an open chest wound; or wounds, and blood on the front side of both rear legs. Apparently, the horses were startled by noises from a building site. Seems strange to me given that these horses are trained to not react to loud noises, but they are still animals. I understand people are concerned for the horses. There were clearly terrified and at least one of them hurt (But the fact they were still running indicates that it's not too bad, thankfully), but why are so few people concerned for the five people that have been hurt? Horses will always 'spook' at the unknown.... however trained they are.... Sometimes....this 'training' designed for conformity per se.... actually restricts the true life for the horse.... This in turn....like any animal.... (and we can never ever truly know how they feel or think...) will take flight (like anyone)....when a threatened unknown to them is actual or perceived.... 😕 I hope the horses and people are ok.... 😢

I gasped when I saw the grey horse, it hurt me to see horse in that condition 😢. But I do suspect that the rider might have set of the horses instead of the noise, yet again maybe it was the sound 🤷🏼‍♀️. I do hope everyone recovers, the people and the horses, ❤
