What one of the presenters was leading to, but wasn't presented is the one of the SCFAs (Short Chain Fatty Acids) is butyrate, made in the colon by beneficial bacteria. That one in particular is protective against colon cancer. So eat your whole or steel cut oats, hulled barley, cracked wheat folks, the bran (containing arabinoxylans) feeds the gut and produces those SCFAs (butyrate, acetate, propionate). Start your day with a portion of steel cut oats (at least 50% of it). I do up a big batch and put the rest in a quart jar in the fridge and have a quick breakfast on hand with a splash of milk to go with coffee or tea for a few days. Easy-peasy and cheap.
