Kim's in the same league as Little Walter, Sonny Boy I & II, Walter Horton, George Smith, James Cotton and Lazy Lester from a skills standpoint. All the others being creators as one and only difference. He's one of a kind. Thanks for sharing this gem.

your example is correct, you can play harp in many positions...the difference I guess is those notes are laid out differently on the instrument as you switch harp keys, but remain in a root key, if that explains it well enough. Im not an instructor...and I just smoked da kine....;0~

I'm not a harp player but whats the real difference in playing 3rd position harp, For example. Playing an Ab diatonic harp over this Bb tune is the same as playing an Eb harp in 2nd position over this tune right? Same notes in the scale. I guess its just a difference range?

Even though what you say is right, each position has a particular "character". For instance, Ab harp is lower than an Eb harp, so playing the first in 3rd and the second in 2nd is just different in sound. Apart from that, although bendable notes stay where they are, in different positions scale degrees may count on them in different ways, or not. For example, the tonic in 2nd has two bendable notes available (2 draw), but just one in 3rd (4 draw). However, IV chord tonic has no bending possible (all right, maybe a slight tone inflection if applied some air pressure) in 2nd, but two bendable notes in 3rd (2 draw). To sum up, it's a whole new world in expressiveness all the way. Hope this helps :-)
