I made my phone mic with one I found in a wasteland, even managed to keep the original coiled cable and base. Lots of fun recording drums, vocals, but didn't try on guitars yet. Added a nice, mid-thickening presence. I also enjoyed using reversed 70s headphones as overhead, sounded pretty dark, yet defined. Otoh it's moody regarding noise, can start buzzing without notice. I enjoy to do this band-pass kinda thing when sending sounds to delays and reverbs. Might as well begin to record with the telephone going thru the delays and printing along the dry track.

Is there a way to make a guitar pedal from a telephone mic, so as to make you electric guitar sound as if it was played through a telephone? If somebody could make that, it would be a mainstay on my board!

Might try out this telephone thing sometime! Have you ever tried using a pair of studio headphones as a vocal mic before? I haven't but I hear you can get some interesting timbres with it...

Does the "Trim" pot not give gain? I thought that was the whole point of line vs mic settings on interfaces
@MadeOnTape
@MadeOnTape 3 жыл бұрын
absolutely! some have more headroom than others, and we used this microphone on stage a lot, so SOME kind of gain was needed in the effects chain and now it’s a forced habit when i use the mic. six one way, half dozen the other in this specific scenario, tho! thanks for watching 🙏

I like Hainbach's channel but oh man... yours is more impressive since you're experimenting with cheap, affordable gear which I can find in my country for less than 20 bucks. Is truly inspiring Id really love to see something with the 505, the telephone or shoebox cassette mic and maybe the VCR? (i have those things)

Why do people wire these to talk into the side you would listen to? I know that a speaker can be a mic, but it just looks wrong.

i'm not much of a circuit bender myself, but I think rewiring the speaker is one of the simplest for beginners? I'm below beginner-level when it comes to soldering or wiring 😂
