I agree with you 100%. That's a fine antenna. Televes also really shines in the pre-amp market a well. I'm getting pretty good results in my attic with a Televes single input pre-amp (the newest model) and a Wineguard 7694P. This video has me itching to re-install my DATBOSS LR Mix. Did you have a pre-amp on your old antenna? A good one really makes a world of difference. I'm 28 miles from the towers, located in North-Northwest Atlanta, surrounded by trees and hills. Having a good pre-amp was the only way I could get a reliable signal.

I'm glad you had great success with this antenna. I do have had good success with the Televes 148383 UHF/VHF Hi/VHF Low antenna. I use them in pairs combine them with a SmartKom and get 153 channels. What puzzles me is I thought you had 65 channels on the ground yet only 60 up on the tower. Did I hear that right?

My dad and i us his cb radio antenna. And we pick up television stations. We can turn the antenna in so many ways. But we are settling with just a regular tv antenna thats made for tv . But you are showing so many channels we are supposed to have here in Alexandra Kentucky. We should be able to pick up Cincinnati ohio, covington ky, Newport ky, and Oxford ohio and Kentucky channels. But we live behind a huge hill. We do know that our antenna should hover over the hill but can't get that high. But thanks for your fun antenna demonstration. That was interesting.

What you have is high band (VHF 7-13) antenna, they also make a low band VHF/high band VHF that also includes (2-6). It looks like the NBC station in Nashville is on both VHF 5 and UHF 36. Are you able to pick the VHF 5 signal too?

@@yellowcreeklife7801 I was just curious because I am in the Memphis area where the NBC station is also on Channel 5 only. My attic mounted HD Stacker, which is also VHF high only along with UHF is able to pick it up too, but I am only 15 miles from the transmitter. It does not pick up any of the low power UHF stations that are only 15-20 miles away. I have been toying with the idea of getting a Televes too, but I would probably get the VHF high and low band antenna since I think it only costs about $20 more than yours. It is sold at Lowes for $169.95.

Its not a televes its just a cheap one i got on ebay its just for an off grid cabin. I did a review on this antenna also its not bad for a cheap antenna

Wait a minute here... you scanned for channels before you mounted this antenna on the tower? If so, why didn't you show rescanning and rechecking for the signal strengths? Shouldn't it be better after mounting it?

@@yellowcreeklife7801 sounds and looks like a nice system. Sure beats paying for TV, a good antenna system will pay for itself in a matter of months. I wouldn't mind having a antenna like that, but because of the trees I'm forced to go with a 8 bay antenna with a 30 degree path coverage, the more directional one's don't work good with my location... I've tried several times before and no can do.

Kentucky is just as far as Nashville but it’s north and Nashville is east. Not sure what the cost is now just have to shop around

yea its a very heavy tower bolted it together and raised it in one piece. its solid steel in three 20ft and one 10ft sections. I made a video I need to upload it

The Televes DATBoss LR Mix is a bear when it comes to UHF signals. That is why I call it "The Beast". It also does a decent job on VHF Hi.

I just replaced a Winegard HD8200U MONSTER at least as large as the one shown being replaced in this video with the updated VHF low version of this Antenna 148383 and I'm amazed how much better it works at about HALF the size I'm only 11-15 miles from most Detroit towers to the North so I like to aim the antenna South and pick up Toledo but was UNABLE to receive Toledo 24 w/the Winegard and w/the Winegard South Detroit stations got choppy, w/It north I was loosing Toledo Stations With this Televis south and the preamp plugged in I get ch. 24 at 100% along w/all other Toledo stations and ALL Detroit stations loud and Clear.

To be clear ... The antenna in the video is the older model Televes 149883 which is VHF-hi/UHF bands optimized for TV RF channels 7-51. It's since been replaced by a newer version the Televes 149884 VHF-hi/UHF bands optimized for the latest TV channel repack of 7-36. The current model that includes the VHF-lo band RF chs. 2-6 is the Televes 148383 optimized for the latest repack of RF chs. 2-36. Which in turn replaced the older 148381 designed for chs. 2-51. ...

I use an inexpensive GE antenna installed in attic with 8dB booster pointing at right location, and I'm able to scan 145 and getting 67. I can get twice as many channels if I enable the wifi on LG tv but after software update, it demands too much spying so I won't agree to the terms.

I have multiple vhf channels 65 miles away, I need and have an antenna like your old one, the new one won't pick up the vhf channels with just those 2 rear vhf elements which to boot are only for the high vhf band (channels 7 thru 13) I need a vhf capable antenna for rf channels 6, 7, 8 and 12. Maybe my area ia unique. On the ground you received 64 channels, on the tower 60 channels. Must be some cable loss with the long coax run.

If you need to receive vhf-lo channels the Televes Ref. 148281 would be your antenna. it's the same antenna reviewed here with an added longer set of elements for vhf 2-6. I have the 148281 and am very pleased with it.
