Senator Lee's mistake on this front was abandoning his insistence that the question be answered. It is the only way to deal with script-following politicians, and that is to make them answer questions by asking it over and over until they answer. Usually the answer one gets is, "Senator, I've answered that question." But you cannot let them off the hook. She wants to appeal to all, by saying she supports the Second, but when she is around the media or dems, she wants to take all our firearms. My guess - she cannot define an assault weapon, because most politicians on the left know nothing about firearms. And since an "assault weapon" really doesn't exist in the civilian market, she is stuck repeating buzz words that she has heard repeatedly and clearly knows nothing about.

I see no reason to strip law abiding citizen of their rights when criminals break the law. That would be like charging you with a murder another person committed. You may not have done the crime but you are going to be sent to prison for it. This is what banning assault weapons equates to. Banning an item because you cannot control who gets them is retarded. Not only that you will not be removing this item from the criminals who use them to kill. This could only hurt the people who are innocent and that by definition is a criminal act all by its self. This problem has never had a blanket solution. You cannot ban an item 100,000 people like my self can easily make in their own machine shops. If I wanted to I could make MA2. .50 caliber machine guns. These are far more destructive than a assault weapon ever thought of being. You can literally mow down a forest in seconds with just one of these. This I can do from memory because I use to make all of the service parts for military contracts where I use to work. If you ban assault weapons, It will be like the prohibition of liquor. More weapons will hit the streets than we ever had before. They are too easy to make and a ban would make the black market prices escalate to the point every small back yard shed will be making machine guns and getting rich doing it. Then what good would come from your ban? Laws do not stop criminals. They never have and never will. The thinking that you can fix a problem by denying people of this item they grew up with and enjoy will have the same exact results prohibition did with liquor. It will make a serious problem much worse. Again this problem does not have a blanket solution. A ban will fix nothing, it will not get weapons out of the hands of criminals nor the mentally defective. Until you create the magic wand that can do this your ideals and terrible solutions will only make a bad problem much worse.

Also, it's important to note, the majority of mass shootings (though there are SIGNIFICANTLY fewer than the media says there are) are in gun-free zones. And a large portion of gun related crimes are from gangs fighting other gangs. The only reason the government would be interested in disarming it's citizens is because it intends to do something that we would shoot them for. Murder is already illegal, banning guns will only leave law abiding citizens defenseless. Firearms are the ultimate equalizers too. Thanks to being armed, a 5'6 105 lb woman can defend herself against a 6'4 250 lb attacker. Having a gun doesn't even mean you have to fucking shoot anyone, they're an excellent deterrent. Regardless of my opinion, look up the statistics for actual gun related homicides vs lives saved by guns. It speaks for itself.

I ran into the same problem with my aunt (in MD) when I visited up there last year. We heard about some recent "mass shooting and she said they needed to ban all those {assault}weapons and I asked her to define them. Long story short, she couldn't define them but we did have a lively argument as she tried to describe what they did and I repeatedly explained that I had carried what could be described as an assault weapon for 20 years but we never called them that, we simply referred to them as our individual (or personal) weapons.

This is a growing trend among the political left. Jen Psaki is the most public and probably worst offender in this category. It's not that difficult to answer a straightforward question. We need to enforce a system in which our elected officials can't simply dance around questions and avoid addressing serious issues. They need to be held accountable for refusing to address issues. That's an important part of what makes us vote for them or another candidate. You can safely assume that any political candidate that doesn't answer questions is obviously going to lie, cheat, and steal in order to get whatever they want. Don't trust politicians that can't answer questions.
