I have an extremely ecouraging, truthful, and good father (my mother really went to the gutters for a few years and he took full responsibility for us in the midst of a horrible betrayal and other atrocities). He told me MUCH of what Jordan Peterson says. In fact, the most common thought I've had across all of JPs videos is "Holy shit, Dad said that!". Which is kind of crazy because dad is a hardworking machinist, does not read or watch videos, and he had no father whatsoever in his life. So i have absolutely no clue how he figured these things out. But the fuckery of it is, that I didn't understand it when dad said it. I was a kid, and for some reasons the lessons didn't take. I suspect it's because Dad just didn't articulate himself in a way that really struck me. So not only has he provided encouragement that I very much needed, but my appreciation of my father has grown wildly. I imagine this situation isn't rare at all, but who knows?

So true. I have a father, he exists, but we couldn't be more disconnected at the relationship level. We've never had a beer together, never had a father/son chat, he's never given me advice, I don't know what his core values are (and if he has them, he doesn't convey them in any way). You need to harden yourself up and kick yourself in the ass. The only thing that matters in life is the actions you take, good or bad. Stop worrying and just do it, whatever you want to do. Make the best decisions for yourself and don't mind what everybody else is doing. Nobody cares how you think, feel or even if you die so you might as well be positive and happy. Also, if you don't get what you want, just keep moving forward and do something else. Trust me, I am so happy I have NOT achieved certain goals instead of achieving them. You see, in life, there are cons and pros no matter what you do, and there's no magical pill towards the "perfect" life. It's just life.

In his book,"12 Rules for life",the title of a chapter alone was deep even before I read what is written in that chapter. Rule 4 "Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today".People like Jordan are hard to come by and if one finds him,he must respond as if he discovered a treasure. Hats off to you. From Ghana 🇬🇭 West Africa.

@@garintj1547 Happy you see what I saw.Its really life changing in my opinion. You know we humans are Herd animals. And we are fond of comparing ourselves to others. However,"comparison is the thief of joy."And if comparison is done negatively,it makes us envious and inevitably feel inferior to the other person. But no one will admit of being envious because it is such a terrible feeling to admit. However, considering Jordans Advice,it is the best way to live this life or the best worldview each man should have to counter Envy.It helps you measure your own progress at your own pace not at that of others. Thanks my friend.

@@raymondtendau2749 Yes, envy has no place in a healthy person's heart. Admiration, not envy. You should be able to admire someone without that admiration conflicting with your own objective goals. I notice many men feel this way towards him. I think most boys haven't had a father to teach their sons about the inspirational things in life Jordan teaches them. He's also got this grounded masculine energy about him, which I think attracts men to him in a "you're my teacher" kind of way. I don't agree with Jordan Peterson a lot, but he's such an influential, important key component to the progression of mankind and I believe he makes the world a better place. In a world where men, and women, strive for power, dominance and control, are afraid of emotions and sympathy, Jordan Peterson shows men how it can be different.
