It's terrible how some men will use, a woman's past hurt against her. I told a man (grown boy) something personal once and days after he threw it back in my face. Some men can be so cruel. I won't be telling a man ANYTHING.

I made the mistake with my ex of telling him my past traumas, family troubles etc thinking I could trust him. Toxic, emotionally and mental abusive (mostly) relationship and would have the things used against me. One of my fears, I told him and he would use it against me especially when he was mad. Loose lips sink ships. Learned my lesson.

I truly want to give you a big thank you for this message. People are sharing way too much traumatic information about themselves early on. It's inappropriate and extremely unfair. I met this fellow recently and he was dumping so much of his trauma on me that I had to stop him. I told him I am not a therapist and I don't want your nightmares. I am not equipped to handle your horror stories. Seek professional help, or not, but that's not what I am here for. And yes I have my own traumas but they are not the subject of casual conversation.

From my experience, it's good to keep the profound deep personal stories for when you know for sure the person has good character, intentions and can be trusted. Until then just be naturally you, don't avoid and don't pretend to be someone else, just answer briefly and when you decide to talk about something, make it gradually. Don't pour your heart out without being proven you are being understood, respected, valued and your past is seen NOT as a list of vulnerabilities, minuses or scars, BUT as part of what made you the special, strong, great woman that you are today.

This is a good one! I tend to attract ppl that give me their worst sob stories... And they lay it on honey. Its physically draining for me that I have to walk away or change the subject. On the flip side, I've spoke with dudes that ask certain questions in certain ways to try to get me to talk about my past and how I would handle certain things. I see that manipulation tactic a mile away... They usually end up getting frustrated and calling me guarded... I realized a long time ago sharing ur trauma with a man does not bring u closer. It just creates something he'll use to his advantage or throw back in your face.
