That's awesome. I hope you both enjoy this little drone. I think its a great first drone as well. You might consider looking into some of the coding apps as well. It allows you to do some creative stuff with the Tello like string together automated flight commands. Supposed to get kids into STEM.

Wow, that was a good deal. Hope you enjoy it. Since the Tello has brushed motors, they are more susceptible to burn out. You shouldn't have a problem if you let the motors cool down between flights. So try not to fly back to back. Give the motors at least 5-minutes (maybe 10) to cool off. Seems to work for me with all of my brushed motor quads.

Try the TelloFPV app. It's Android only but adds a ton of features, auto pilots etc. etc. Great video!!

The tello is still a good little drone to me too , the only reason i don't have mine anymore , was because i don't like flying it with a Bluetooth controller or on the phone , now if it had a proper controller , i would have kept mine, my tello.

Hi, thanks a lot for all your content! I'm really intend to buy a Tello but I'd like to have your opinion regarding the joystick. I could notice in some videos that having a joystick connected decreases video resolution. Videos are much better and without lags when Tello is connected directly to the mobile, am I right? Do you recommend the acquisition of the joystick or the mobile + wifi extender is more than enough? Thanks!

I personally prefer flying with only the phone. I experienced slight lag in the controls when using a bluetooth controller. I believe the Gamesir controllers are better though and may not have that lag. For me, mobile+wifi extender.

i had the tello when i was in the philippines but lost it. When i got back to canada I got a mavic mini and can't wait to go back. I do wish that there was an option to use the TELLO app with the mavic mini for flights that are close and don't require big distance. Its so much easier to not have to use a controller.

A lot of guys don't like the Tello because it doesn't come with a controller, but it's one of the things I like the most. It's so convenient to not have to carry a controller around and the controls are very responsive.

I believe there is a code you can write to controller multiple drones from your computer but your phone connects to your phone via a wifi signal so I doubt it. Would be possible to do it that way.

I've been on the fence about picking a drone up for a few years now .Drones have gotten a lot more user friendly and therefore less intimidating to your average beginner like myself . Functions like Auto takeoff,auto land , auto home, track an object ,follow me , obstacle avoidance , circle me,pre mapped flight route and so on .. have not only taken away from the intimidation factor.Its also made them a whole hell of a lot cooler and therefore more attractive to a larger demographic than just the super technically advanced . Despite all these new user friendly ,easy and cool new features that half popped up over the last few years , somehow they have simultaneously become soo much more affordable! I tried flying the tello over a deep snow blanket in Hokkaido last year. The drone went haywire just after take off and went full speed strafing to the nearest car road! I had to crash it before it would cause an accident. Definitely not recommanded over snow

Ryze made a great App based control and as much delay as you get it’s not that bad, I added a range extender thanks to another of your videos and now it works well at 60-80ft up even in wind, that’s better than a Yuneec Breeze that I crashed in light wind! Love my Tello. It's just a cute and funny drone. I put a little anti collision strobe on it with velcro. It adds to the comedy. There it is flying around the garden at maybe 20 feet high and it's flashing away like it's trying to avoid a helicopter. The light also helps when it crashes in dense brush. Hard to find except for the flashing light.

The Tello has an advantage: its size. In some countries like Belgium where I live, drone regulations are so strict that some enthusiast drones (DJI Spark & Mavic for example,...) are restricted. Leisure drones are limited for home use at max 10 meters altitude... Or have to pass a drone pilot licence (so pay more). So this Tello makes decent videos in a discrete manner (not the motor engine sound unfortunately). And it is "plug & play" for fast moves between places.

They really help when it's cold. Cold hands and frozen finger tips is the main reason I don't fly much in the Winter. That's going to change this year now.

This isn't a good one for night flying because it doesn't have lights on it. The sensors wouldn't work either. I would love for them to put LEDs on a Tello 2....if that's even a potential thing.

Great video! Got a Tello for Christmas and already thinking of getting a Mavic mini!! Do have to say that the Bluetooth remote setup on an iOS device (iPhone 11 pro) has been challenging. Two controllers returned, finally sprung for the Gamesir, lets see if three is a charm.

Yeah I'm not sure if they'll include a controller or not. You're not alone...a lot of folks don't like flying with the bluetooth controllers. I noticed a bit of lag with mine. I don't mind the phone so much with this one though.

I'm on the West side in Grand Rapids. For brushed motors I've found that letting the motors cool down between flights tends to extend their useful life. So far I'm still flying with the original motors.

You will get better performance from you Tello if you remove the prop guards while you are outdoors. A lot of people loose hobby drones buy leaving them in low rates and flying outdoors with the prop guards on; the wild can carry a small drone away.

Good point and I never fly with prop guards on...however, with the Tello, I never fly mine outside of close proximity. I have other GPS drones for that so I like to keep the guards on. I highly recommend not flying this quad far away in windy conditions at all, prop guards or not. Recipe for disaster.

YOU SHOULD NOT USE PROP GUARDS WHEN FLYING OUTSIDE. This effects video quality and aerodynamics and flight time, the wind will grab the prop guards and will make it fly like a kite. I have also had good and bad video feeds depending on the device I use. High end Samsung or iPhone had a much better connection than less quality devices. Tello is a great beginner drone, have fun.

Yeah, they are overpriced, but last year I barely flew in the winter because my darn hands would get too cold. Don't have that problem this year.

So that is my problem with this drone. Video SUCKS frame drops out the wazoo totally worthless. But I did notice the video was fine when you did the up and away. So is that telling me that the Tello has been deliberately rigged to drop frames - cause I have other off-brand wifi camera drones that do not frame drop so badly for half the price.

That it can run with no frame dropping. But if you drive it around... frame dropping no matter how close. Pictures are pretty good.
