Just saw Spedding a month ago in Hamilton. Saw The Ventures years ago at the El Mocambo in TO. Now I can say I’ve seen them both live.

"Speeding" (oh, yes!) has a record of great works in rock and roll. I didn't know about this appearance with the Ventures. It just shows once again that he's the man. That introduction at 0:06 he used in Pogo Dance from the 1977 solo album "Hurt". A great album!

Wow, Bogle is really kicking out the bass notes on that Fender Precision - lots of 16th note double-picking. He was a tasteful player, very underrated.

I learned lead guitar from Bob Bogle's first few Venture albums (yes, I'm old). It's so weird how he switch to bass and became such a solid kick-ass bassist.
@hnlchan7 жыл бұрын
I don't know why Bob switched to bass; probably the Ventures needed one and Bob is so talented to do so. Thanks for watching and comment!
@charleswesley99076 жыл бұрын
He was a kick ass lead too . I liked his style
@OffRoader12876 жыл бұрын
Nokie felt he wasn't on his full potential as a bassist. So he told Bob about it and so they swapped places. Seemed okay for Bob though to be on the bass. From then on this was the lineup. Ps. I saw this on other comments here in yt.

Chris spending played and wrote some great stuff on that Gibson flying V, apparently they weren't a guitar that people took to like les paul junior's and SG's, frig me side ways you would not be able to ge a late 50's lp junior now for about 3/4gs basically thousands it's crazy, all I've ever wanted was one of Gibson lp junior in TV yellow but too far out my price range but I bought the next best thing the epiphone inspired by Gibson it's totally wrong colour but it does d trick night

update, Nokie Edwards died March 12, 2018 and Gerry McGee died October 12, 2019 of a heart attack on stage in Japan.

I rather liked the distinctive sounds Bob Bogle created on the guitar. Nokie didnt have that style. Bobs use of the tremlo bar and his Jazzmaster really sounded unique. Bob should have kept playing lead or at least shared the leads.
