Started my career in 2018 was forced and put into SAP. Quit my job after 1.5 years and started working in a support team as an analyst ( had known SQL). Worked for 1.5 years again. Covid hit hard. Learnt front end development Reactjs for 6 months. Started applying for remote jobs , faked my experience saying I have worked for 3 years as a front end developer. Was able to answer all the interview questions, lied about my old salary and got into a company with 4X the old salary. Quit that company after working 6 months on contract. Now my resume says I have 4 years of experience as a front end developer and every company only asks about my last company which says I’m a front end developer and my salary is X. Got a 30 percent hike on that X salary. Really doesn’t matter if you’re trying to fake your experience. All that matters is that you actually know what you’re applying for. PS: I’ve also done moonlighting/daylighting whatever you call it. Have worked on 1 contract, 1 full time role and have been doing this even now. Just that you need to adjust your time and finish off the work both sides. 🙂

You know why people fake experience, because employers do not believe in learning on the job or training. They do not want to invest in training. I have seen honest people who say that they do not have experience in certain things that company needs getting ditched/rejected against a fake experience. These people definitely falter later. I have seen a lot of people who are skilled to grasp something new as and when needed, but employers do not have any audience for them. With so many new technologies in the market, its not possible for an individual to be aware of everything. All a good candidate can do it be strong in basics. Rest can be acquired in a short time and a bit of patience.

I think the rampant hiring during the so called "Great Resignation" phase are partly to blame for the situation which IT companies are finding themselves in. I myself with 11+ years in the industry, was in the hiring process, and I know what steep hiring targets we were put up to. We were taking 15+ interviews on an average on some days. There were so many positions to fill up, that our managers were ready to compromise on the quality, just in order to fill up the position. Moreover another factor during this whole pandemic phase was, companies doing online interview drives. You got to interview a candidate in 30mins over a video conference. Its very easy for someone to fake their experience in these interviews. So I dont agree with this high moral grounds the IT companies are now taking and glorifying the reports on the Fake Experience Layoffs. Its an outcome of thier own mistakes and it has wasted a lot of people's time.

Problem we have faced while hiring at entry level position is, freshers (or candidates with fake experience) has dream to get job in MAANG with heavy package, immediatly after their certification is complete. This is possible only in exceptional case. Rest of get disappinted and expect something near MAANG in small companies with small projects. I have more than 20 years of experience in what I do. For first one year I have worked for peanuts. Next two year I earned to survive. Next two years I got reasonable package. In my previous job I was highest paid emplyee. Now I charge fortune. Half of my client pays, half don't. All of the my friends in my generation has same story. Since last a decade we have a great work life balance. You need to learn to earn. Learning takes time and efforts in right direction. Today KZbin is full of "Learn Blah Blah in 3 months and get a gob in MAANG" or somthing similar to exploit young people looking for quick money. Which is unfortunatly a unit of success. While recruiting we don't give F to cadidate's certificates, or educational background. We allow candidate to use Google during interview. We have our own way of selection (or rejection) of candidates. You won't belive, many candidates can not answer the questions even after using Google. One disgusting experience. One guy claimed 5 years of experience (of course fake) in managing web server. We asked him where do you store your DNS records for domain. Registrar or Web hosting server. He answered Web hosting server. We asked why? He answered Web hosting server is the only place you can store DNS records.

That's not the case with every company or person. I'm having 2 years of real project experience on Automation testing but I want to make my career in Web Development. So during the 2 years while working for the company I learnt Spring Boot (Backend Framework) and then I created 2 projects using that and started to applying for interviews in other companies. In the initial call that recruiter asked me do you have real project experience on Spring Boot, then I explain him/her that, No actually I'd been working on tester role but have aspirations in development role. So I've learnt this framework from great tutors on Udemy and also have made 2 projects of my own and to your surprise most companies don't even take my application forward after hearing this. It feels that you're being rejected without interviewing. Then I asked other senior peoples and they all said me you will have to lie that's the only option. Also most of the companies don't encourage using google in interviews. They expect you to mug up every method of a particular class and also expect you to answer the same theoretical questions.

Go ahead (and be reasonable with it rather than putting in 10yrs when you only have 3). All's fair in love and war. But don't stay idle if you get hired. Start perfecting the tech you learned and apply it in that 3yrs exp framework.

@@Ajay-d I understand man. life is tough. We can preach, but some things are what they are, so we break and keep fighting with the hope of something happening or be another sheep and do what everyone else does where the probability of getting to the goal is relatively higher. It's not like we're asking for free money or are too dumb to do any task. Everything takes time and while some may wait, not everyone in the family has the same patience. The ATS is another hurdle although it is a perfectly reasonable thing. No qualms there.

There are many times fresher have no fault it just company is not providing the work as according to their growth. So why do they hire the employees if they don't have work and helping hands in their company? Everyone after graduation and every fresher wants to learn the company's work, culture, and process over there. Why company hire freshers?

I will say this from experience - if the person making the final decision on who gets hired has not done that work themselves, they are also faking it as a boss. I work for an international company. When we were small, our senior full-stack developer decided after interviews (after marketing did the leg work of gathering resumes and setting interview appointments) who would join the dev team. You could not fake it, because I had to take a test and then sit with him to go over my answers. Seven years later, our CEO sells the company and retires. Our new bosses hire seemingly ANYONE off the street so long as they are cheap. I found out yesterday that one of the new devs who I'm supposed to escalate my tickets to has NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. It is NOT his fault he got hired. Who ever gave him the position has no idea how to interview because I found out in 2 minutes of chatting with him. He is not a bad person. He is doing his best, but failing because he has no support since his supervisor has no idea how to help him. I will be taking back support tickets next week to "stop the bleeding", but wait and see how this company will deny me a raise when I ask for it after fixing their mistake. What this new hire needed was to work on a team with someone with experience instead of leaving him with others just as new to this work to fend for themselves because experienced developers cost more.

In most of the indian colleges, we don't get the placement and there are few colleges where big companies like TCS, Infosys use to hire the entity mass by having deals with the college management. Those big companies use to hire the entire mass by just seen the face and college name. Majorly the collage which are asking more donations and high fees.

In India HRs have ruined the IT industry. India need to bring CBI kinda watch dog regulatory agency to sit on the necks of hiring managers and HRs to vet the entire process because fake experience is the least percentage of the problem, real elephant in the room is ballooned job descriptions with unrelated unnecessary skillets added like free toppings on the pizza.

I really know how you feel. The corporate world is shallow. Just because a candidate has a career gap, it does not make him or her any less capable. I had a 3 month career gap for my mum wasn't well and I had to take care of her. Just because of that, hiring managers looked at it as some kind of blot on my resume. Things only changed when a recruiter told me to not include that gap and state something else. After that only I got a job. What an irony.....

I appreciate his videos. But , he is showing this as the truth in which the candidate is being shown wrong. No they are not. Their actions may be shady. Fake exp letter is a big no. But leveraging an experience letter / RL with a simple detail of no mention of tech and project can work easily. Have skill set that is it. Be smart in interview , tweak if u can cause the cruel capitalist need any excuse to bring u down the pay ladder. If a 40 year old family man wishes to switch his domain , this advice is rubbish to follow when he knows how shrewd the corporate will be and will try to bring him to fresher level of pay if he is honest about his desire to transition.

Originally, the companies wanted to train their employees and bring them up into the culture for 1-2 years before they began promotions. Once the market got full of liars with "fake experience," companies began to lose a lot of money because a complete and total loss of efficiency from that lack of experience that could have been used to make or save millions. I agree with the speaker that it affects the entire ecosystem. There is a reason honesty is important. Companies worldwide need to be able to engage in efficient hiring of new and fresh talent that has the proper background which applies to the company's vision. Lying breaks this efficiency and causes issues in the short and long term.

I would say that you should "exaggerate" your experience rather than totally faking it and saying that you have worked on a technology without actually doing fully hands on. Also I think when companies post job openings they always ask the candidate as to what package their current package is and what they expect, which is kind of unfair because although the candidate would disclose their package the company never discloses what is it that they can offer initially. I think there should be a balance in this in some way that the companies can probably disclose a range which the candidate can be offered.

I love Math and Pattern modelling. Learned Python, But since I had management experience I got Hired as a Project Manager to handle a team. However just managing wasn't my thing. The company for two years didn't change my position or gave me raise where I worked on SQL+Python+AWSLambda ETL products that I coded. I am still a project manager with hands on skill of python, data science, ML, Django dev, flask all by myself. At the age of 36 now I am stuck due to the difference between my position and my skillset. It's hard to tell any company that I more than just a manager.

sometimes experience matters during the project execution, but showing this as a reason for mass layoff is not at all good, they need to perform a good check before joining or at least immediate after joining, if they really have the policy of zero tolerance in a statement one company said that due to pandemic and project needs we are not 100% sure on the BGV on candidates, so they can bend their rules according to their requirements but to help candidate, at least they would have gave a option to resign voluntarily can be a little help they could have done for the work they did to company during these years.

There are people who are so called experience on £650 a day and literally struggle to complete the tasks done on a weekly basis. We then have 2 hour meetings to make sure the objectives are met at month end. The following month we have the same problems and talk about the same issues. This is then repeated month after month. The people on £200 a day then state the obvious saying the £650 guys haven't delivered the work and then get told off for speaking up. Mind boggling

Planning and implementation we are always behind delivery deadline as freshers always ask for more time to understand and implement even if they have the technology expertise A experienced person will know how the business is getting impacting due to delays and deliver on time Freshers lack official etiquette’s this comes with experience It’s not above experience or fresher but having a proper team structure And of course having a proper hiring process to avoid fake experience
