They actually changed this recently. You're now allowed to try on garments at the distribution center while shopping for receiving your endowment.

Remember that your garment must extend to the knee or it is not a church sponsored garment.

@@dl1130that is no longer correct. See the General Handbook - section 38.5.5 “Wearing the Garment.” There is no stipulation on length. You are instructed to not modify the garment. Essentially if it fits, and you are covering it with appropriate clothing, then you are wearing it correctly.

​@Yellow_cub that is not how I was instructed. There is a marking on the knee that must extend to the knee and cannot be shortened.

​@@dl1130 Is your navel mark exactly over your bellybutton at every minute? Fit differs person to person and shrinkage from washing & drying happens. Marks won't match up all the time. What's important is the symbolism and that people are wearing them & keeping their covenants.

It's been a long time since I went through the temple, but if my memory is correct, the distribution center had some garment "blanks" that you can try on.

@@roncameron7461 they should bring it back. When I received my endowments there was no place nearby to buy them. I had to order them from Utah. The size was right but I had no idea what fabric to choose. Now the closest location is 6 hours away. If we could keep a set in each stake center it would be helpful.

They do have size guides that you can access before you go. So sizing is not a total guess 😊

Well, for the brethren, in my Temple, we have some garments that we can provide if they forget to bring a pair of garments.

As far as I've heard, people are allowed to try on garments now before they go to the temple to see if it fits well.

My brother has a disability and has gone though the temple. They can special measure and make garments specially for you to fit you best. It might be worth asking about. My brother shorter than average and touch sensitive and they make them much shorter and sew all the seams inside out for his comfort.

If you’re only wearing the garment top you’re violating one of the covenants you made in the temple. Violating your temple covenants automatically disqualifies you for exaltation. I’d re-think that choice carefully. You’ll find your reasons for not wearing the bottom will not have been worth the price you’ll pay eternally.

Or maybe she just forgot about it while packing or the teacher neglected to mention it. It happens. We're all volunteers in our callings and no one is perfect. What is important is a willing mind and heart.
