CABAL did (does?) have a knack for cruel sadistic humor, such as when in Firestorm he informs you about barraging the battlefield with cluster missile launches by way of condescendingly telling you: "Oh by the way: Multiple missile launches detected." - And then laughs as the bombs start dropping. I assume CABAL got this ability to use a form of humor from the suspended in animation humans and their brains he is hooked up to in order to utilize them as processors.

*Puts on tinfoil hat* Kane is NOT his true name! Long ago, a young prince named Brandon fought an evil jester and became King of the magical island of Kyrandia. Somehow, somewhen, King Brandon clearly went off the deep end, and became magically immortal, possibly during or after whatever process transported him to Bronze Age Earth where he took on a new identity. Kane's ultimate goal is Ascension, a means of using Tiberium technology to, perhaps, once again return to where he came from. Oh, y'all want evidence? Well, Brandon was voiced by Mr Kucan in both Legend of Kyrandia 1 & 3. But in LoK 2, a letter is adressed to a character in the lands of Lore, which, as we now know, are connected to the C&C world. Thats' my crackpot headcanon. Love your C&C lore vids Prd!

I think it's safer to assume the mutants are Tiberium based by how their attacks cause burning damage, and the fact that we don't see crystals or anything on their skin is more a limitation of the game engine. I also don't agree with this being a bad ending timeline and believe it could take place anywhere from post Tib War 2 to the aftermath of Firestorm, because per C&C 3's GDI campaign intel files, not all of Cabal's control nodes were destroyed in the Firestorm crisis, and the last one was discovered shortly before Tib War 3. It also makes sense that very few humans would have survived if they were near one of Cabal's cores, as every unmutated human would have been harvested for cyborg production.

WOW. As a game developer (on the side) one of the things I wanted to do was just, create one coherent lore, and make it so we could have any game - any character, any time period. Providing it made sense for the characters/world. I don’t want to spoil it, but there’s a few (in my mind) appearances of things that really shouldn’t exist without context. Just seeing this, and hearing Cabals voice, seeing the game in general, it reminds me of Doom, (I’ve never played either) but I love the implementation of cabal in here, Just imagine* It’s 1998-1999, you have played the original C&C, you’ve played red alert, and you tried you’re hand at lands of lore, you *Because internet wasn’t anywhere near as close to what it is now back when. Didn’t have this spoilt, You single handed LG got first hand experience of seeing and playing this with no real context. Seeing the Nod logo again, despite the idea they either won or lost the first tib war… Seeing how ‘out of place’ it looks VS the rest of the game, I know for certain I’d start loosing my mind seeing the nod logo, and what could potentially be the ruined temple of nod. Kane’s broken dead body, (as if you didn’t play red alert or finish it, the implication that he’s immortal or lives on through cloning or is cabal, wasn’t made.) Seeing hints at what could have happened after tib war 1, and knowing tib sun was coming* That is the SUBTLE* hint to get you excited for C&C 2, That is incredible, the Westwood lore did more than I actually thought prior, and whenever I can, I’d love to take a gander in person.

LoL3 was pretty good and novel. Its strenght was, that it was a non-linear clip-show, with separate regions that tell separate interactive stories. one of them full of CnC-fanfic lore. its weakness was, that the character gets stronger and better tools, but all separate regions are constant and get easier over time. Whatever regions are your first 2 choices, you are in for a good gameplay challenge. All later regions, you are now way overpowered, and only along for the ride of a narrative, that is slightly diminished by almost all friction/danger/drama being removed from it.

I'm not sure how well LoL1 or 2 play (1 is DOS), but yeah LoL3 is definitely rather clunky. I managed to find a control scheme that worked for me, there are quite a lot of control options in the settings which is nice and I can list what I used if anyone want to try it out, but there is a lot of alternating between having the cursor locked to the centre of the screen in the style of a regular FPS, and having the cursor unlocked so you can interact with things more freely. The physics engine though is pretty clunky to work with, especially given the game likes to give you parkour tasks. Your jump height is extremely low, but you move at twice the speed if you run around jumping. It's an odd game to be sure, but well worth a look if it's your style of game. Very much a jump back in time in terms of design

Here I am in 2021, I keep watching this hoping, praying for a Command and Conquer Remastered Collection 2 with Tiberian Sun (my overall favorite due it its post apocalyptic atmosphere and CABAL and the brotherhood feeling the most real out of all the others). I find CABAL way more interesting than LEGION especially because of the added human component and when he tried to take over the world and by the sounds of things coming quite close to doing so in Firestorm with Tiberium doing most of the damage with earth having at least 1 year left before becoming completely uninhabitable to humans according to Doctor Gabriella Boudreau, Luckily GDI wins in the cannon and the knowledge gained from the tacitus allows GDI to create the green zones in CNC 3. I hope more remasters are done well in 2022 and it revives CNC as a whole, To me even in CNC4 the scrin were never really defeated and only defeated from earth, this leaves a lot of potential that should be harnessed.

I remember this, good times. The one thing I hated about this part, there is this alchemic thing that allows you to make a item that clones other items, very OP indeed. But it needs those green goo from this world, with other ingredients very early on found, not fully worth carrying the full game through. I played this at a friend home, sadly one of the CD finally succumb to heath death, from overuse some years ago, and one day just broke and snapped in half. Lucky we made CD copies and digital also XD Fun thing about this CD version is that it is V1.05 if correct, has a nice glitch in the ice world that basically allows you to grab the shard inf times, I have used it in the speedruns I did,.. Most are done on the GOG, what is V1.07a and has this glitch fixed. Also, the CD files, after instal, can just be copied into your main instal folder, make a startup thing called -cd and something called -32(something) to bypass some RAM checks for modern systems. (google is your friend for that info) I also use nGlide,. I dont know what the GOG version does. But if you try to go past the old standard 4:3 640x320 ratio with the cd version or use 32Bit ratio settings, ingame cutscenes will crash/not show the game without it. Some additional setting for it can be found on the nGlide forms, that work good. It does sometimes give a bit too much light and extra effects, that make me say, disable the texture smoothing ingame is a must in nGlide mode, because most textures look actually worse with it enabled. Some textures are also pretty HD, like the money bag. Makes you question what sort of compression they used, if any. You can still switch to the games 32Bit 16:9 ratio just fine while ingame or use the nGlide in 16:9, but know that cutscenes will crash/not show in 32 bit in your game. What is sad, because the game looks quite good in the normal 32Bit that somehow works, because the game was 8/16Bit originally if correct. So make backup of the Cache files if messing with that, thrust me, copying those files is faster then making the game do it for you. Also, I see you using the compass to move the camera,. There is a keybind for mouse look activation. even works in inventory mode. Good memories, good.

I played this game as a kid, but never got very far. As an adult, I beat it, and I really disliked this level. I think easter eggs and references and such are super amazing in games, but to make an entire level, the FINAL level of the final Lands of Lore game, into a Command and Conquer level, felt way too much to me. However, I am sad I never experienced this as a kid, because I feel certain that I would not have been thinking in such critical ways back then, and simply found it amazing that a game I liked, ended with a level based on a game I loved even more. Again, to make sure people don't misunderstand me; If this was a secret hidden level, or just a small thing, I would have loved it even now. But to make it such a huge part of the endgame, felt a bit too much. I play another game these days, Final Fantasy 14, which is an MMO. They sometimes make crossover events with other games, and I love that. However the most recent was to make the entire big raid of the expansion into a Nier crossover. Again, as much as I like that game, I think it was too much to set aside such a large amount of the game to a crossover thing. (I realize this game has nothing to do with Lands of Lore or C&C, but it was a good example of other games doing something similar). Either way, lovely video as always!

My original channel was supposed to be called No Strings Attached Productions, however YT's character limit back in 2008 meant I had to go with NoStringsAttachedPrd (spaces weren't allowed back then). When I started this channel as a clean break, I decided to streamline the name, the 'Attached' was way too unwieldy, but the name felt unbalanced without 'Prd' at the end so I kept it. I pronounce it "P R D", but it doesn't stand for anything, it doesn't mean anything, it's not short for 'Productions' or anything like that. It's just a nonsense word because it sounded right.
