Temple of the Winds is the fourth book in Terry Goodkind’s epic fantasy series The Sword of Truth. It follows the adventures of Richard Rahl, the Seeker of Truth, and his wife Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor, as they face a deadly plague unleashed by the evil Emperor Jagang and his army of the Imperial Order. In order to stop the plague, Richard must enter the Temple of the Winds, a sacred place where time and space are twisted and where he must fulfill three conditions: he must be betrayed by his wife, he must betray his wife with another woman, and he must marry that woman. Along the way, he encounters various allies and enemies, such as Nadine, an old friend who wants to marry him; Drefan, a healer who claims to be his half-brother but is actually a serial killer; and Du Chaillu, a woman who was trapped in the Temple for centuries and who is Kahlan’s ancestor. Richard manages to enter the Temple, reverse the plague, and kill Jagang, but not without facing many challenges and dangers. He also reunites with Kahlan and annuls his marriages with Nadine and Rachel, a young girl who helped him in a previous book.

45:00 I don't get the long drawn out anger and conversation about torture. Why doesn't the Mother Confessor just walk over to the dude, touch him, and make him spill the beans without the torture?

The Confessor's Touch obliterates the personality of the one touched, replacing it with one beyond extremely dedicated to the Confessor. It is powerful enough that if the Confessor suggests she wants the Touched dead, their body overloads somehow to cause death. The Touch is used when a prisoner requests or to ensure guilt for an offense requiring the death penalty. If found innocent, the Touched is often turned into another creature by a Wizard to reduce its effect.

This starts off pretty bad. Kahlen/Calin is usually calm, collected and level headed. But in this book the author has her blabble the good aides deepest secrets in front of a captured magician? And once she realizes her error, she continues to babble secrets about Richard and the keep in front of Nadine? Ugh ..the other books were great, but this one is frustrating and is messing with the characters. Anyone agree?

Yes it is infuriating, I am considering dropping the whole series. The characters get dumber and dumber. So far only Zedd holds my interest.

The D'Hara Accent is a mix of Eastern European, Scandinavian, and Soviet. I assume the accent is selected as D'Hara: · is separate from Midland & Westland (both of which are closer to the Old World). · associates D'Hara with the evil spectre of the USSR Era and an equivalency of the threat.

its painful how monumentally stupid the women are in this book, they all go from reasonable women to complete dolts that will just sit there and tell all their plans to the enemy. they regularly bork everything up... the writer really messed up on this books beginning. he shouldnt have pinned so much on to the women doing dumb shit

Yes I agree completely. I also think the book which outlines Richards sister is awful and usually skip it as it doesnt hurt the actual main story.

I just posted the same comment! Ha. The first 3 were great. But this one just totally destroya the character of Kahlen, and writes her as of she's a completely different character. Pretty bad. Kahlen babbling every damn secret to Nadine is so frustrating and idiotic.
