Great compilation Bill. I remember going there in the late 60s when a P Brock raced with his Holden powered A30, and Paul England raced his 2 engine VW. I seem to remember Pat Crea racing there also. Distant memories.

My dad took me to templstowe many times in the late sixties and seventies, a huge crowd around the track many would be racers cut the racing teeth on this track such great days never to be again. Thanks Bill.

Back in 1986 after the track was shutdown I was lucky enough to have driven my Capri V6 GT up that hill full pelt. The blind right hander at the crest was a a leap of faith as you could not see the road for the e bonnet of the car.

I have a picture of my father and myself ( about4yr. Old) when the circuit was being constructed. Had many a great time over there. Once I tried to ride my push bike up “the wall” the wall won😊

i live in templestowe - with my turbo subaru = my street is steep = VERY and all the streets are near the river - great area - hard walking though .

Harry Firth in the MG -Holden now owned by Ian Tate One Correction its not K.Neal in the Jaguar Xk120 its Owen Bailey on the circuit clip (white Shirt) Neal had darker clothing and helmet and Owne a white Helmet .. ta .

Great footage. I have only been to a few events like this and found them fascinating. The feeling that comes out today seems to reflect the mid fifties perfectly yet most of the people shown would be long gone. I can see where the generation 5 years older than me ,born in 1952, got their desire to race cars especially Pommy stuff. I think that red framed Oldsmobile is still the same one I saw at Tarrengower a few years ago. Hows that for longevity?

Yes indeed. I have been amazed to discover whilst restoring these films how many of these home made specials have outlived their builders & drivers, and are still being raced by new generations today. A lot of them turn up at Rob Roy historic meetings and run as well as ever. I have 3 more films from Templestowe to release shortly in another episode in this series.
