I remember going to one in a small, rural town in Tennesee back in 2022. I just love the exterior & interior of those old Wendy's! Hopefully, when I travel later this year, I will come across another one and eat there.

I survived a house fire in 1990, and I can STILL recall the smoke smell to this day. On a different note, every year at Christmas, my aunt gives me a Frosty tag. You can go in and get a free junior Frosty whenever you want. It's fantastic!

Anothe great video and I understand about house fire. When I was 7 years old the apartment behind our house in Irving Texas caught fire in the middle of the night. You could smell the smoke in our house.

I know how you feel with those flashbacks. I got a brand new dryer & it caught on fire. Luckily I was home otherwise it would've burnt my house down. I got some smoke damage from it & it took a month to get the smell out.

If you go over the other location on Covenant, there's an place called Mama C's Donuts in an old Pizza Hut across the street from an old time Dunkin' Donuts that's next to an abandoned carmax (Title Max) in former Boston Market!

I know exactly how you feel, Wallie. A close friend of mine lost his house to a fire when we were growing up, and a few years ago an apartment house 3 buildings down from me in Erie was completely destroyed by fire. The smell and smoke were so bad that I legitimately thought OUR building was on fire. Thankfully, it wasn't, and after about 4 or 5 hours of having the windows open and fans blowing out, we got all the smoke out of our place. I've never been a direct victim of a house fire, and I certainly hope I never am. But I totally understand and sympathize with people who have been.

There was a Wendy’s that caught fire a few years back and it too awhile because of the Insurance claim process eventually they tore it down and rebuilt a new one and the same spot.

My husband and I both know what you mean on flashbacks. We had a neighbors house catch on fire two different times and second time it melt some of our siding that had to be replaced. Then had his vehicle in the back yard and he was doing something with it and it caught on fire. The house thank goodness is tore down over year now.

This is shocking. I have been in this one several times, as I only live about 45 minutes away. I would think probably grease related, if in the roof. I was a vol. Fireman for 20 years, i know what you mean about the smell. I hope that your neighbor, his family, and any pets were alright. The worst smell, I was on a fatal wreck where the vehicle burned. The smell of buring flesh is still something that I smell when I see a car in the junkyard with a minor engine fore, even after almost 33 years. I am glad that your cats and all of you were safe

My neighbor was okay. He lived alone after his gf left him because he was a violent drunk that did drugs too. Had the police called on him multiple times. The fire was the last straw as this would get hin evicted, FINALLY. Thankfully, he had no pets. He was okay as was I and my 2 kitties. I was so happy he was finally GONE. But that smell was something that gives me severe PTSD because of that night. I'll admit, even though I kept it together on camera, I was trying not to have a panic/anxiety attack while walking by that side and smelling that horrid smell.

Don't feel bad, Wallie, we get it. There was an attic fire at my elementary school when I was in about second grade. It happened over the weekend, and it was small, so we went back the following Monday. Mom hadn't told me about it, because she didn't think it was a big deal, and she didn't want to freak me out. But when I walked into the building, there was that smell... That day instigated a fear of fires that I am only now, almost 40 years later, beginning to get a handle on. But the smell? I still can't handle that. Just watching your video, and hearing your description, made my anxiety go up...

A lot of Wendy's are closing because of fire. When an actuality most of the fires are probably deliberately set. Because the insurance will allow them to remodel so that they look like the newer style. Where is if they did not they would have to pay for the remodel themselves. It's my understanding that corporate requires all locations including the franchises to be remodeled into the new style within the next few years. There have been a few in my area which have mysteriously had fires and then remodeled😊

I can smell it by seeing this video, I know it’s a horrible smell, I remember when I was a teen there was a big house and shed fire down at my parents street and that smoke smell lingered in the neighborhood for 5 months till the township finally tore the whole thing down. We couldn’t even put up the windows when the weather was warm because of the bunt house and property.

The nearby Chili's in Holland, OH had a fire 10 years ago, it reopened a year later fully remodeled. I get it, My Cousin passed away in a house fire in 2021, the smell has always stuck with me.

I still remember the smoke smell from a kitchen fire when I had one and I don’t like it and I also remember the smell and it stinks too and my Wendy’s got a nice update a few years ago and it looks cool looking and my Wendy’s still has the older sign out front next to the road

When I was in high school, the Ashland, KY Rax restaurant caught fire. The fire department determined the blaze was caused by an accumulation of grease in the attic. House fires are extremely traumatic and I remember when my granny’s apartment building caught fire. I was only eleven years old and still remember that smell. This fire was over forty years ago.

Our Wendy's burnt down a few months ago it was the AC unit that started it it was romdel some thing like2 years ago some like that. it burnt to the ground. This happened in red bluff ca. I do Miss it. it does look like they're going to rebuild it..

Fire do happen in restaurants but if someone doesn't pay attention to putting in the electrical wiring into a new building or a existing building and they accidentally cross the wires together and it does go unnoticed. Bad things will happen to the building after the workers leave and they have the power running.

What a shame to see a retro Wendy's caught on fire there must have been something that made it caught on fire all I can think of is that the chip fryers was not clean out that happen to a Hungry Jacks restaurant in Australia Hungry Jacks is your Burger King in the US and one of the young employees was told to clean the chip fryer out and must have missed some cooking oil and up went the Australian Hungry Jacks this happen I Paddington Sydney Australia but the funny thing was there was a Mc Donalds about 12 km down the road so all our fast food restaurant's are so close together but thanks for a great video Wallie and see you in the next one

One of our neighbors had a fire in his house a couple of years ago and it was due to a Christmas tree and our house was right down the hill from it. We could see when the wires melted it would spark and make a zapping noise too. Unfortunately our neighbor had like burn marks on his face so I assume that he was trying to fight the fire or trying to get out quickly. Our neighbors house that had the fire had a addition on it so it burned. The other side of the house was in fine shape. We bought the house that had the fire and we looked around the upstairs portion of the addition and it was black and we could smell the smoke a little bit but it wasn't too bad of a smell.

It's super sad to see a Wendy's that had a fire. It could happen if there's a power outage in the area of the restaurant that causes a surge of power that hits the electrical box outside and blows it up. It's rare to have a fire in a restaurant but it could happen if someone wasn't paying attention to put the electrical wiring in or a person comes in and throw something into the restaurant to cause the fire.
