Great Video thanks a lot :-). I like my X6100, the X6200 is a little too expensive, after tax. Looks very neat and if I didn't have a 705 and was looking for a portable radio it would certainly be high on the short list. The built in WFView server and built in FT8 decode have a lot of potential both at home and for portable operation (Make it easier to operate FT8 on a phone/tablet or craptop). The built in sound card for USB to PC is very nice (705 has the same and it makes everything dead simple) The way you change settings is the number one thing I don't like about it. Thanks for the review. I will either purchase the 6200 or the next G90 version for portable. I like the 6200 for the larger waterfall. 8 Watts max is probably to drive users to their amplifier? $$$ 73

I was happy with the 6100 despite it's faults. It's a "Fun first" radio for me and I had fun. Mission Accomplished.

I'm interested in exploring that 0.1w power output for driving transverters.... Does this stop at 30MHz, or does it go up to 54MHz? I ask because I have an old 220 MHz to 28MHz transverter that is useless unless I can find a radio that I can convince into transmitting at extremely low power in the 30-33MHz area 😅
@temporarilyoffline7 ай бұрын
It says HF/50, so it should. I am not sure about testing the power output or not since this is a prototype. There was speculation about transverters in the beginning, but that could have been smoke and mirrors.

I had to pause and comment my complete disgust with the removal of the screen protecting film. Removing that always makes me feel like scratches are going to spontaneously appear and the screen will stop working. 😂

I do it so the youtube police don't come after me. Its a no-win situation.

I leave it on for added screen protection when portable

After a year or so you won't be able to remove it without solvent.

@ericf5996 the adhesive used on these protectors is not stable, they are not meant to be on long term

What do you use the IQ out for? I have an X6100 and have used the crap out of it and never bothered with the IQ out.
@temporarilyoffline7 ай бұрын
They disabled IQ out on newer firmwares. It's a way to export the I and Q portions of the radio's reception to a computer for display - think SDR dongle

The only question I have... Will that microphone work on the 6100? Oh... And will it 'Feng?

Great review, not sure if it’s going to replace my x6100 but still an option for someone looking for a first qrp radio.
@temporarilyoffline7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if there is a reason to upgrade if you have the 6100. It's kinda like upgrading to the latest iPhone.

Yes Steve thanks for your reply I'm very disappointed it's a nice radio but the power that was like really important to have that extra power I'm not going to spend it extra $500 for an amplifier for the money they should have put the extra power on it then it would have been a good deal at least you can run it to 20 watts like the g90 I don't think you're going to sell many thanks a lot for the video though you're a great guy 👍

I really want to love this radio as a G90 enjoyer but I just dont know if this brings enough to the table to justify owning a QRP radio, 20w is the new normal.

The input lag is quite noticeable ;/
@temporarilyoffline7 ай бұрын
I agree, it's very weird. It's the way the rotary encoder is setup. It's like it takes 2 clicks to make 1 move ... It's not so much "lag" as it's just unexpected. I'm sure one would get used to it fast enough.
