Haha, I hear you there. Sometimes it's good to put aside those modern amenities and concentrate on other things.

Nice design. Fun comes in all shapes. What I found from others who do layouts for shows is that to have a slight jog adds a bit more interest too. With those big show layouts they can do a slow jog with wider angles, but I tried a short jog on mine and it adds a bit more when you see your train do a jog to the left or right and then back to straight track. I have it so mine jogs a really short jog to the left, then straight track, then it goes through a tunnel, then a bit more straight then jogs right again, right before it makes a turn. It's not much, but I've kept it this way instead of having my oval, because it just adds a little - and a little is all I can afford now, but it is more interesting to me to see the train and cars do these maneuvers. - Thanks for sharing. - I'm a bit embarrassed to show my limited setup at this time, plus I only have one train. I hope to get a second one this year.

Thank you for the excellent comment Agreed on mixing things up. The temp layout V1.0 that I setup last fall had just a very large oval but it did have a jog on the front by the transformer. I really like this layout a lot better.

I love the layout. Simple enjoyment. I have the same NW2, and mine groans exactly the same way.

Hi Jeremy, I like your layout fun open with neat accessories. Interesting MTH Greyhound Terminal and running two trains at once. Would like to see you running American Flyer.

Glad you like it. I'm not sure when the American Flyer collection will make a return to the layout.

Hey Jeremy. I think your reverse “U” look great! You get a broader range of view with the 2 side by side track plans. Having two different types tracks also is what I like to do as well. I like the look of the Fastrack, but I also like the classic style of the tubular track, and if I have some postwar accessories like a #3424 Operating Brakeman Car, or #3376 Operating Giraffe Car I want to use, I can hook them up on the tubular track to have more fun!!

Thanks Tom I'm glad you like it. With the different track types, I didn't even think of the operating accessories

Nice U shaped layout. Im thinking of reproducing that in HO scale and partially in O gauge depending on available space. I agree it's visually appealing and eliminates the need for switches. Also allows for simultaneous running of Lionel or Marx posts war conventional on 1 track while running Lionchief or MTH DCS on the other.

Thanks! I didn't even think about conventional vs other modes of operation.

Nice layout configuration Jeremy. I'm with your son, I like the 2 main line track setup, great idea. Terrific videography with the onboard camera too! Have you put any thought to adding sidings with operating accessories off of the inner loop? Thanks for the update!

You might have figured this out; but if you have a new or a wild user let them use the remote control train and have the voltage set low enough to not have the train fly off the track, but have the voltage to the track power in a hidden spot.
@TooManyHobbiesJeremy11 ай бұрын
An excellent suggestion
@rennethjarrett458011 ай бұрын
@@TooManyHobbiesJeremy I bought a Lionel used steam engine with the remote and figured this out since I was using a regular Lionel transformer to have power to the track. Thus when I limited the track voltage the train only had so much power to have speed. I did not experiment with more voltage that a regular train transformer to see it it could go faster, to see if the built in train electronic limited it to the motors. Would be interesting to figure out.

Jeremy...the new design looks terrific. Gives a whole new perspective on the layouts viewing. So you can run two different loops on that same transformer ? I don't own anything that powerful and I'm not familiar with its capabilities. Thank You 👍
@TooManyHobbiesJeremy11 ай бұрын
Thank you James The MTH Z4000 is one of the most powerful transformers out there. It has 2 handles for independent control of 2 trains. If you had more throttles it could handle at least 4 trains. But that would require a lot of effort to pull off. It's overkill for most of what I do. But I don't have to worry when I decide to triple head a long train of all coaches lit with incandescent bulbs.
