@@goodbed hi. Do you suggest this mattress over the sealy hybrid plus high point firm? Looking for a mattress to accommodate back and neck pain from double scoliosis. Thanks.
@goodbed2 жыл бұрын
@@diamondw2050 From a feel standpoint, you'll find the High Point Firm to be pretty similar to either the Adapt Medium Hybrid or the ProAdapt Medium Hybrid in terms of softness, memory feel, and bounce, but the Tempur options will tend to have a bit deeper cushioning (more of that hugged or cradled sensation). In terms of accommodating back and neck pain related to scoliosis, each person's curvature is going to be unique. As such, choosing a mattress that works for you is going to be a very individual thing that is more about fitting you to a mattress than it is about any universal characteristics of that mattress. So I'm afraid I can't be of much help there. I hope that's helpful.

Great review and one of the first real reviews on the adapt series. Nice job. Funny I just had a pro-adapt soft delivered this morning to replace the proadapt medium hybrid. We'll see, we are both light weight and it seems very adapting so hoping it works. Edit: The pro-adapt medium hybrid was very nice however a slight bit firm for a shoulder issue and we had an issue with the coils being loud (you could hear a pop) Tempur-pedic said it was likely a defect.

Ive only had it for 11 nights but I can tell that I don't see it getting any better on the pressure on my shoulders. It is great on my back only if I sleep on my back all night but I sleep 75% on side and 25% on back. Thanks for the excellent video. I have narrowed down my selection to two choices- Tempurpedic ProAdapt Soft or the Stearns and Foster Pollock Soft. I am an average weight side sleeper. I have Fibromyalgia and hip pain. I also have terrible insomnia. I also occasionally wake up with lower back pain from sleeping in the wrong position on a very old Serta traditional coil mattress. The S&F Pollock Plush felt great immediately as soon as I laid down. I could have probably went to sleep in the store. That is rare for me-- but that does not mean it would do my body good after 8 hours. The Tempurpedic ProAdapt soft felt odd because I am just not used to laying on a memory foam mattress. I don't feel pressure points, but it feels kind of stiff and not as comfy. I kind of felt like my legs were floating up from the firmness. These are the only two in the store I liked at all, so i would like to pick one of them. I have heard some reviews about the longevity of S&F with sagging. Its hard to find Tempurpedic reviews that are not from their site. Do you have an opinion of which one would be best for me? I love the immediate comfort of the S&F, but i am concerned about my Fibro, hip pain, and the pressure points. What do you think?

I left this comment in another one of your videos. I had the Adapt Medium Hybrid and the coils made a popping noise. A month ago I got the ProAdapt Medium Hybrid and the coils have made a popping noise from day one and it’s getting worse, and it’s loud. Sometimes you can get out of bed and still hear coils popping up, delayed reaction. I don’t know if it’s normal, but if you search individual pocketed coil noise/popping, it says the coils are failing, or the mattress is old and it’s time to buy a new mattress. My ProAdapt Medium Hybrid was made on 11/17/22 so it’s not old at all. Purchased from Tempur-Pedic and it’s been the most comfortable and best Tempur-Pedic out of the 5 different ones I’ve had in 3 years time, finally found the right mattress. I just don’t want to keep it if it’s broken, especially for the price. Is Tempur-Pedic coil popping noise normal? Thank you!

Hi there -- If the Adapt Medium Hybrid is noticeably too soft for you, I don't think you'd find significant enough difference in the Adapt Medium (non-hybrid) to justify the change. @@akaredcrossbow I did. Much better with the pro adapt firm after I added a thin (2") soft "gel" mattress pad to the top. No back aches, it's firm and the pad adds a little comfort. One problem I'm having now, because it is firmer, my shoulders won't "sink" in to the matters as much and my 15-20 yr old pillow feels now a bit too low. I tried 8 different pillows, including a cube aberration and none come close to the original Tempur memory foam pillow I have. You'd imagine tech would improve over the years, but it's clearly not the case. One problem someone may have with this combo (mattress + topper/pad) is it will be very thick. My linen stretches quite a bit, so I had no issues, but the bedjet air heater (for instance) won't even reach the too of the mattress (so it's useless).

@@Shadow__133 Thank you for the reply. I’ve been suffering with the Luxeadapt soft. Hips, shoulders and sciatic issues. I moved to the much firmer couch for a much better night sleep, but the couch is starting to sag in the middle. I just tried out the the Proadapt firm and the Proadapt medium at a mattress firm. The medium was too soft and the firm felt just right. The bed store has hundreds of people laying down on these beds so they become softer, broken in. So I feel that the firm will be the perfect bed for me over time. Unfortunately 100-120 nights is not enough to test a bed. My Luxeadapt started hurting me just a little over 4 months (120 nights plus) so I couldn’t return it. Hi Coleen -- Thanks for your question (and your kind words!). Pressure relief is certainly an area where Tempur-Pedic mattresses tend to excel, and the ProAdapt Soft would be no exception to that. That said, there are other mattresses that also offer very good pressure relief, and pressure relief is just one factor (out of a dozen or more) that we consider when recommending a specific mattress to someone, so while it certainly sounds promising, I can't say for sure whether the ProAdapt Soft would be my top pick in your case. That makes it hard for me to offer any concrete ideas other than within this same line. That said, I do think the Medium Hybrid or Soft could still be a good option for you. We classify the Medium Hybrid as a Medium and the Soft as a Medium-Soft -- at your size, I wouldn't rule out either of those from an alignment standpoint -- unless you sleep a lot on your stomach. If you're primarily a side sleeper, I think the Soft could be OK, though I do think you're going to get a fair bit of that "sinking in" feel, which you mentioned that you don't like too much. Due to my parents and two brothers and their wives all swearing by the Sleep number bed, I went with the Sleep Number P6 which has 11" of a top layer. However after ordering it and seeing videos of basically a air mattress and foam on top, I wish I spent a little more time thinking about the Tempur Pedic bed. However on the one bed I tried it was like laying on sand on the beach where you sink it and its a little hard to move around on. Thankfully the new beds have a layer to help with heat which should make it more comfortable. After having the air mattress for 30 days, if it does not work, I will be going for this bed.

I weigh 290lbs and sleep mostly on my back or side. I did bodybuilding when I was younger and my lower back seems to suffer on soft mattresses. Would you recommend the firm or medium?
@goodbed2 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. First, it's really hard to generalize what's going to be best for lower back pain -- the only accurate generalization is that your back needs to be supported in a proper neutral position. But unfortunately, no one mattress can do this well for all people because mattress support is highly personal, meaning it's all about "fit." That said, if softer mattresses tend to give you lower back pain, then it seems likely that your back is reacting negatively to sinking deeply into the mattress. This would mean that you'd be best off on a mattress with shallower "cushioning depth" in our parlance. Most or all of the Tempur mattresses have above average cushioning depth, and the amount of cushioning depth would be accentuated for someone that weighs 290 lbs. As such, I don't really feel confident that anything in this line is going to be the best option for you. Given your size, I'd think that your better bet would be a mattress with an extra strong coil unit that is specifically designed for heavier people. You can find a list of those here: www.goodbed.com/guides/best-mattress-heavy-people/ I hope that's helpful.

Do they still have the nasty off-gassing when new?
@goodbed11 ай бұрын
Hi there -- Any mattress that uses polyurethane foam (which is virtually all mattresses) have a little bit of "new mattress" smell. Two things make that worse, of which Tempur-Pedic mattresses have neither. First is foam from low-cost import countries (eg, China), whose foam production is not monitored nearly as closely as our production is here. As a result, they can get away with the use of lower-cost chemicals and/or production processes that make their foam much more pungent and/or toxic. For that reason, cheap imported mattresses are by far the most common source of off-gassing horror stories - ones in which people's noses feel burned by the fumes, etc. No Tempur-Pedic foam is ever made overseas. Second is vacuum-sealing and roll-packing the mattress. This typically happens shortly after the mattress is assembled and traps the chemical odors inside an airtight seal. These odors include not only off-gassing from the foam, but also from other components like glues that hold the layers together, which have typically been applied just moments earlier. In addition, the compression of the mattress means that these gasses can't travel easily from within the mattress, which means they just stay locked in place until the mattress is expanded, after which it can take 48 hours or longer for them to make their way out of the mattress. With a flat-packed mattress (the other, more conventional, approach), the mattress is not compressed and is simply wrapped inside a loose-fitting, non-airtight bag. This allows two things to happen. First, while the mattress is in transit, or in a warehouse, the gasses inside the mattress can escape through osmosis from the interior of the mattress to the exterior of the mattress. Second, the gasses that are inside the bag can slowly seep out of the bag. Thus, by the time you open the bag, most of whatever off-gasses there might have been are already gone. These days, fewer and fewer mattresses are flat-packed, but Tempur-Pedic is one brand that still flat-packs every mattress they make. All that said, some people are acutely sensitive to ANY amount of off-gassing - even feeling light-headed or nauseous sitting in a new car, for example. For such people, the best answer may be a mattress that contains little to no polyurethane foam whatsoever. Springs, as an example, do not off-gas at all. Likewise, all-natural latex has a little bit of an initial smell, but does not have any chemical off-gassing. If sounds like you, here is a list of mattresses that generally meet these criteria, and that you can further filter based on your other wishes and requirements: www.goodbed.com/mattress-models/?support-type=53&comfort-type=5&green=8 I hope that's helpful.
@e5m95611 ай бұрын
@@goodbed - My Tempurpedic Cloud Supreme was horrendous and gave me headaches and the smell didn't fully subside for an entire year after purchase. I read many complaints at this time about the off-gassing. It's fine now but the first six months I almost threw it out in the garbage...
@goodbed11 ай бұрын
@@e5m956 Understood. I hope I'm not overstepping, but it sounds like based on these complaints that you saw, you were under the impression that your experience was consistent with that of the average purchaser of a Tempur-Pedic mattress. FWIW, this is not the case. If it were, Tempur-Pedic would long be out of business by now. But more generally, we have the benefit of being able to see all complaints (including the ones you saw) and put them in the context of broader statistical averages and trends based on what portion of each brand's customers are represented by each type of complaint. Of course, it's always possible that you got a weird unit that essentially had some kind of uncommon 'defect' in this regard. However, IMHO it is also worth considering the possibility that you may be someone who is more acutely sensitive to this type of thing. If so, this is not a problem at all! As I provided in the link above, there are many great mattresses that use little to no polyurethane foam (memory foam is one type of poly foam). Since all poly foam has some amount of off-gassing, these options will be the only way to ensure your new mattress doesn't have any off-gassing. I hope that's helpful.

The lower price could easily be down to customs/tax differences since countries have different import/export policies for materials.

Excellent review! Would you recommend the regular Tempur-Pedic Adapt Medium to side sleepers? Thank you!
@goodbed5 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question, and your kind words. I wouldn't categorically recommend any given mattress to all side sleepers, since there are many other factors besides sleep position that greatly impact what mattress is best for someone. That said, I certainly wouldn't rule out the Adapt Medium for side sleepers, as its conforming and pressure relieving capabilities would be a good match for a solid portion of them. To help you narrow the universe of mattress options to the ones that best meet all of your needs and preferences, I'd recommend taking our mattress matching quiz which gathers all the relevant inputs to consider and then searches across brands and stores to show you options that best match your requirements. If you haven't already taken it, you can find that quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ I hope that's helpful.

How do u know the old model from the new in stores ,so u know ur not buying old stock
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Hmmm. If the mattress is on site, then you can always check the date of manufacture on the by-law tag at the head of the bed. If not, then you can check the manufacturer's website to see if the model you're interested align with the current models. And generally mattresses shouldn't "go bad" unless they're stored improperly, so old stock shouldn't be too much of an issue unless it's a used model.

Good afternoon. We are currently trying to decide between the "Adapt" and "Pro Adapt" series. The medium hybrid's are our favorites. Other than the extra expense, what would be the sale point between the two. We want this to be out last mattress for a very long time. I don't want to make a mistake. Thank you so much for this review BTW. You are really helping a lot of people.

How often does tempurpedic release new beds? Every 4 or 5 years?
@goodbed2 жыл бұрын
Hi David -- Thanks for your question. Tempur-Pedic releases new beds most years, but doesn't revamp their entire line-up all at the same time. Rather, they will replace certain models (generally the older ones), and then the following year will update other models, etc. Each model they release tends to remain an active part of their line-up for 3-5 years. This is a bit longer than most traditional mattress brands, who tend to replace their mattresses on 2-3 year cycles. That said, it's also worth noting that the pandemic did interrupt the product introduction cycle for most mattress brands. I hope that's helpful.

I got this mattress a month ago and I got vertigo the first two nights I slept on it which no one could explain why that would happen. I woke up with vertigo and I've never had it in my life but it went away and I slept longer than I slept in years. But the last week I've been having worse back pain low back pain I've ever had in my life. Can it be from this bed? I don't understand because I've been sleeping on a sagging couch for 3 years and I've never had back issues. So why now with the almost $4,000 mattress am I having low back pain all the time? And what would be a better option? It's not fair that we only get to exchange it one time
@goodbed2 жыл бұрын
Hi KB -- Contrary to popular misunderstanding (which is sadly, propogated by most other mattress review sites), back pain is not solved by having a better mattress -- it is solved by having a better mattress for YOU. This means that regardless of the mattress having great materials, high workmanship quality, or a large price tag, the key thing that will reduce back pain is simply the degree to which it holds your spine in proper neutral alignment while you sleep. No mattress can do this well for everyone, just the same as no pair of pants will be a good fit for everyone. Its ability to do this will depend on how well the support characteristics of that mattress match up with your weight, body shape, and preferred sleep position(s). In your case, you mention that you were not having pain on the sagging couch but you are having back pain with this mattress. There are two possible explanations here. 1) This a sign that your body really needs a LOT of conformance (eg, if you're. heavier and/or curvier side sleeper), and the soft sagging couch was just the ticket, so what you need is a mattress that replicates this. 2) After having slept on that sagging couch for 3 years, your body became used to this and even started to adapt to it. This type of thing can take some time (weeks at least, if not months) to undo. So you may find that until your body readjusts to being properly supported, it won't like being held in that position. Sorry I can't be more definitive here but I hope that's at least somewhat helpful nonetheless.

@@goodbed thanks but how come this tempurpedic the pro adapt firm the hardest one they have? I think It's already in some spots. If I push in it goes in a lot. When a few weeks ago it was barely able to put it indentation in it. Now that there's several spots. If I push in it goes in and it's way lower than the other side already. And like I said I'm 260 lb. I'm not like I'm 400 lb or something and I've only had it for a month Soft spots lots of them
@goodbed2 жыл бұрын
@@krisinua I'm not sure I can answer that without seeing the bed. The only thing I can think of is: 1) with firm memory foam like in that model, it matters quite a bit how fast you try to push in -- pushing in fast will meet with a lot of initial resistance but pushing in a little slower will meet with less resistance. Eventually you'll be able to push in pretty far either way though, because there's a lot of conformance. 2) with memory foam, the temp of the foam has a huge effect on its softness. Room temp from new to now should feel fairly similar. But when the foam has been warmed by your body, it will definitely be much softer, even when brand new -- as we say in software development, that's a feature not a bug. I hope that's helpful.

Damn wish I watched this first the guy on the Tempur-Pedic hotline did not explain the beds like this.
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rachel. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get such a good explanation from Tempur. In their defense, I don't think any company can explain their products as clearly as we can -- it's simply too easy for a manufacturer to get tied up in their own marketing lingo and sales message, whereas we cut all that out and explain things in plain English for our readers. Likewise, no manufacturer would ever want to say anything about their products that might dissuade even a single customer from buying that product. By contrast, we are able to highlight the distinct characteristics of any given product in an objective manner that clearly illustrates how it could be a great match for one person but less of a match for another, based on an evaluation framework that we can apply consistently across all different brands. Although it seems that every website has an opinion about mattresses these days, GoodBed is the only objective source of mattress information that is based on this caliber of depth and expertise. So as a result, we would certainly recommend against buying any mattress without first reading our take on it to know what you're really getting. I hope that's helpful.

I have studied lots of videos and tried various mattresses over the last two years and still struggled with pain in lower back or hips. Am 69, 5'7" and weight usually ranges between 150-155. Am fairly active. Finally I decided to splurge on the Tempurpedic Pro-Adapt Soft version, because I am a side sleeper and thought pressure relieve would be good. The first couple weeks, I thought it was great. I didn't mind the sinking in feeling, because it was just so darn comfortable. No pain on shoulders, back, or hips, and though it did sleep a bit hot, I didn't mind because it was the first mattress not needing a topper. Then, I began thinking perhaps it was a tad too soft, because I felt some discomfort in lower back that seemed alleviated if I slipped a rolled up towel under lower back. So I was conflicted about whether to exchange it, since you only get one exchange. I decided after two months to exchange for the medium hybrid, which I got about a week ago. So far it seems pretty good, though I do notice a small amount of hip pain, though nor a game changer for overall satisfaction. I really think the soft was a little too soft for me. Is the Medium Hybrid likely to soften up any?

Hi Mary Lou. I hope you're doing well with the Medium Hybrid -- let us know. Over time, yes -- all mattresses are going to soften to some degree. It's something that happens gradually over time, so you aren't likely to notice it overnight -- rather over months or years.

where is the best place to buy a tempur-pedic?
@goodbed6 жыл бұрын
Hi Marc -- Thanks for your question. Tempur-Pedic regulates the prices at which their dealers can sell their products, so in most stores the prices will be the same. That said, they only regulate the *minimum* price so some stores definitely set their prices above that level. Tempur-Pedic's website will generally show the lowest-allowable price at any given time, so it's best to check there before buying anywhere else. GoodBed also will show that price on our site: www.goodbed.com/mattresses/tempur-pedic/ In terms of price, the one other thing you can do is if GoodBed has a trusted partner store in your area, you can save an additional $50 by getting a cash back code from GoodBed.com before you buy. This comes from GoodBed so is on top of whatever discounts you get from the store. To redeem the offer, all you have to do is come back to GoodBed after making your purchase and enter the code you got before your purchase. Beyond those factors, the key thing that will differentiate Tempur-Pedic retailers is their customer service and their store policies. These considerations will be reflected in store reviews, return policy, delivery policy, financing options, etc. We look at these factors closely In choosing our trusted partner stores, so if we have one or more partners in your area that carry Tempur-Pedic, those would be good bets on this front as well. To check whether we have selected a trusted partner in your area that carries Tempur-Pedic, just open the link that I pasted above (www.goodbed.com/mattresses/tempur-pedic/) -- if we do, there will be a banner on this page that shows it. To make sure we have estimated your location correctly, you can also try using the search box at the top of the page to search for your zip code and see if any trusted partners appear on the store locator results page. I hope that's helpful.

We have an Adapt medium now. We are sleeping hot. We are debating about upgrading to a ProAdapt Hybrid Medium or a Breeze Hybrid Medium (this would be floor model- we are being told the exterior "phase change cooling" would be compromised due to dirt). Breeze still feels cooler that ProAdapt. Any thoughts?
@goodbed5 жыл бұрын
Hi Carrie. The direct effect of today's phase-change materials and coatings is difficult to assess scientifically, and keep in mind that you're putting a mattress protector and sheets on top of it, most likely negating at least some effect of those cooling features. In our view, choosing a mattress with better airflow will have a larger impact for those that sleep hot. So going with innerspring or a hybrid with pocketed coils will most likely allow for more exchange of warm air for cooler air. So between those three, either the Breeze Hybrid Medium or the ProAdapt Hybrid have the most potential for air flow. As you likely noted in the video, we did think that the high-density fibers in the cover of these Tempur models felt notably cool -- at least some portion of that cooling feeling should still be felt through your sheets and a mattress protector, but it's hard to project how noticeable that will be for you. I hope that's helpful.

Does anyone actually sleep directly on the mattress cover? I very much doubt they do. Not a very nice feel compared to any even half-decent sheet. Therefore, what good is a "cooling" cover?
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Good question. Of course most people don't (and shouldn't) sleep directly on the mattress. The benefit of a cooling surface is that when the heat from your body does reach it (which still happens through a sheet and even a protector), it gets pulled further away from your body, which creates a sensation of coolness. This effect is delayed (and therefore less pronounced) the more fabric is between you and the mattress, but it still happens. Think of it like putting a sheet on a slab of marble -- it would feel much less cool to the touch, but once the heat from your body goes through the sheet, the marble would still pull it away from your body. So the marble would still feel cooler to have your sheet on than, say, carpet. Of course, with any material, this effect lasts only as long as it takes for your body to warm the surface, but for that period of time it will be a bit cooler. Hope that's helpful.

Looking Into the pro adapt model but cant decide on the firm, medium, or medium hybrid. I'm a stomach sleeper mainly and rest my head on my arms, in my current bed I wake up with shoulder pains and arms asleep. Any guide on which feel is right for me?
@goodbed5 жыл бұрын
Hi Trey -- Thanks for your question. In general, we don't tend to recommend a mattress with a lot of memory foam on top (such as a Tempur-Pedic) for a stomach sleeper, out of concern that your hips (which for everyone, are the heaviest part of your body) will sink too far into the mattress causing your back to over-arch. That being said, the problems you describe with shoulder pain and your arm falling asleep sound like pressure relief problems, for which memory foam is generally a very good solution. The shoulder pain also suggests that you might also be spending a fair bit of time on your side as well. On balance, I would lean toward the Firm, since that should provide good pressure relief while also minimizing the amount that your hips will sink into the mattress when on your stomach. I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel. Thanks for the question. Since mattress feel is subjective, we couldn't say whether it would feel "too firm" for you personally. However, generally speaking, what feels "firm" to a 200-pound person will feel even more firm to a 110-lb person simply because the lighter person won't be heavy enough to compress the comfort materials as much as a heavier person. Your best bet is probably to try one in a store, but we would guess that you might like the soft better than the medium. But again, it's very subjective since it's based on your personal perception of what "firm" feels like.

@lyazelias895 жыл бұрын
I think the "Essential" is the same as the "Loft" in that Costco sells the "Essential" and QVC sells the "Loft" and changed the name since they both claim that the mattress sold exclusive through them. Same mattress but different name for each place to sell.. if not they seem really close. So how is either one of these if you tried them? Still same questions from above. Thanks for your help.
@goodbed5 жыл бұрын
Hi, and thanks for the question. The Loft is using the same Tempur-ES memory foam that's used in the Adapt and ProAdapt. However, we don't know how MUCH of it the bed uses because Tempur-pedic doesn't say, but given the price, it could be as little as an inch or 1.5 inches. Beyond that, it appears to be mainly poly foam. We have not tested that mattress, so I can't tell you how it compares to the much more expensive Adapt/ProAdapt. Our hunch is that for people on the heavier side, there may not be enough of the memory foam to get the same conforming feel and pressure relief. It's possible that very light people might be okay. But again, without knowing how much of the ES memory foam is there, it's hard to say. There are some reviews on Amazon: amzn.to/2HMPZEK I hope that's helpful.

Hi Mike. Thanks for this review. Does the Pro Adapt Medium Hybrid retain heat?
@goodbed6 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. It's hard to answer this with certainty, especially since we have not performed an in-depth review of that model. I can say that apart from the cooling fabric in the cover, this mattress does not have specific features like the Tempur-Breeze models that are designed to prevent it from retaining heat. More generally, memory foam does have a tendency to mold to your body more closely than other foams, and when combined with deeper than average cushioning, this can mean that less of your body's surface area is exposed to the air, which can limit your body's ability to efficiently expel heat. On the other hand, by virtue of the coils it uses for support (rather than a foam core) the Hybrid model does have more airflow than other models in this product line, which should help on this front. On balance, the ProAdapt Medium Hybrid is likely to retain less heat than some other Tempur-Pedic models, but if sleeping hot is a known issue for you, there are other options that should sleep cooler, including in the Tempur-Breeze line-up. I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ash -- thanks for the comment. Sorry to hear that. In our experience, nearly all mattresses have some kind of new-mattress odor. Typically, most of it dissipates in a couple of days, with some lingering odor lasting a week or two. However, some people are a lot more sensitive to that odor than others (our tester Mike is not particularly bothered by it). If you can put the mattress in a garage or other well-ventilated space, that may help accelerate the process. A couple of home remedies we have heard of: Vacuum it. Vacuuming may help suck out the trapped air (and odors). Another: with a sheet on top of the mattress (to avoid soil or damage), sprinkle baking soda all over the sheet. This works in the same way that sprinkling baking soda in your shoes can help eliminate odors. Leave the baking soda there for a couple of days, then fold up the sheet and dispose of the baking soda. Hope those suggestions help -- the smell should definitely dissipate, but it's true that some are worse than others.

I have scoliosis and my back pain has significantly increased since the pandemic started and the gyms closed. I've slept on a soft Tempurpedic cloud for almost ten years and I absolutely love it, however, I recently moved and am on the market for a new, firmer mattress to help with my back. I'm a hot sleeper as well. I only weight 150 pounds, but I'd like something firmer for my back. Would you recommend going with a firm or medium Tempurpedic mattress?
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rich. Sorry to hear the back pain is flaring up -- it's so tough on everyone without our PT and normal exercise routines. As far as choosing a mattress specifically to alleviate your back pain, we believe it's a myth that a firm mattress is always better -- rather, it's about finding a bed that properly supports your back and lumbar area. A couple of thoughts -- have you thought about an adjustable base? These are more and more common, and can allow you adjust your position to alleviate pressure. We have a bunch of videos on various models so you can see them in action: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3qwZ5ivhauaeJI The majority of mainstream mattresses, including Tempur-Pedic mattresses, are compatible with adjustable bases. I'm also a little surprised, as a hot sleeper, that you have been doing well on a Tempur-Pedic, since there is so much memory foam and cushioning depth. For hot sleepers, we typically recommend a hybrid bed (with a pocketed spring support unit). Latex may also be something to consider for you -- latex offers superior pressure relief, yet you don't sink in as much as you do with memory foam. In any case, we'd recommend starting with our GoodBed Quiz. By answering some questions about your preferred sleep positions and health needs, we can match your requirements against our mattress database and give you a shortlist of beds that should come closest to meeting all your needs. You can find the quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ I know this is more than you asked! If you are set on sticking with Tempur-Pedic, then you likely will want to look at something like the LuxeAdapt Firm. While certainly a firmer bed overall, we did find that conformance -- how closely the mattress conforms to your curves -- is very good. So that mattress might give you the firmer support you want while still reaching up into your lumbar and neck/shoulder areas while also providing the pressure relief of memory foam. Hope that helps!!

Without knowing any more about you other than that you are a stomach sleeper, we would typically recommend going for a firm or extra firm mattress. So in the Tempur ProAdapt line, that would be the ProAdapt Medium (which we found to be more of a firm) or the Firm (which we found to be more of an extra firm). That's really the best way for us to recommend a mattress to you -- answer some questions about your personal needs and preferences -- and you can also indicate price range -- and we can give you a list of mattresses most likely to fit your needs. On 10-21-23 Tempur recommended the ProBreeze Hybrid and now that we have the matress it is not close to being a match for our existing Tempur-Flex Hybrid Elite. On 1-4-24 Tempur now is saying the ProAdapt Med Hybrid is the direct replacement for the Tempur-Flex Hybrid Elite model. We are seeking to get a King Tempur-Pedic that matches our existing Tempur-Flex Hybrid Elite and wondering if anyone has done the same and their experiences. Thanks for the overview.
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Good questions. So we'd generally agree with Tempur's second response on 1/4/24. Relative to the Flex Hybrid Elite, the ProAdapt Medium Hybrid probably is the closest match. However, it is still likely to feel pretty different (and probably slightly firmer than the Flex Hybrid) due to changes that Tempur has made to its hybrids made during that period, and differences in the foam that was used in the Flex models (some of which was faster-responding and is no longer used anywhere in the Tempur line-up). Both the Adapt and ProAdapt should be softer than the ProBreeze though, which we think tends to feel a bit firm. You might also try the Adapt Hybrid as well. I hope that's helpful.

We'll ask you some questions about your body type, sleep positions, and preferences -- then we can give you a short list of models that are more likely to suit all of your needs -- which based on what you've said lean heavily towards good pressure relief. Especially for athletes, pressure relief also becomes more important as you age -- just something to keep in mind as well. Quick question, we had an original tempur mattress that was great in the beginning but got so soft over the course of the first year that it started causing us intense pain and sublaxations. Which of the tempur mattresses do you think would be best since we live in the tropics and don't want to have the same issue again?
@goodbed5 жыл бұрын
Hi Anaala -- Thanks for your question. I'm afraid this isn't an easy one to answer though. For one thing, in order to recommend a mattress that would be a good match for you, I'd need to know more about you than simply where you live (side plug for the quiz on our website, which is by far the most in-depth of its kind -- it will ask you all the pertinent questions and show you options that match your needs and preferences, all in the span of about 3 minutes). But for another thing, it's not immediately obvious to me that another Tempur-Pedic is the right answer for you in the first place. For example, if you experienced intense pain on the previous one, there's a chance that you were not getting proper spinal alignment from it, and this may reflect a fundamental mismatch between your needs and the construction characteristics of a Tempur mattress. To illustrate this, we rarely recommend mattresses with a lot of slow-melting memory foam on top for stomach sleepers, especially heavier stomach sleepers. This would be particularly true for people in warmer climates where the memory foam may have a tendency to conform more to your body. Net, I'm sorry I don't have a great answer, but I would recommend starting with our quiz, as I think it will help get you pointed in the right general direction in terms of what you should be thinking about and looking for, and can even highlight some specific products that could be a good starting point. From there, you can watch the videos and other review information we provide about those products to make a more confident determination as to whether they are a good match for your needs. I'm sorry I can't provide a more direct answer on this one, but I hope this guidance is helpful nonetheless. FYI, here is a direct link to our quiz: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/

I was looking to saving some money if the older products were the same and in the video, you mentioned that it is closer to the cloud supreme or cloud prima. Would you say the flex prima or tempur legacy is close to the adapt as well?
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin. Good question. The changes from collection to collection with Tempur-pedic are iterative -- that is, they tend to represent small changes in materials rather than large leaps in comfort, support, and features. So the short answer -- yes. If you see a good deal on an earlier model, that could be an option. A good guide is to compare by original price. Tempur-pedic is one of those brands that sells for the same money almost everywhere, with little discounting except for discontinued model lines. The hybrid models in the Adapt line are closest to the discontinued Flex collection. You might want to check out our older overview video of the 2017 Tempu-pedic models, which includes the Breeze, Flex and Contour models. kzbin.info/www/bejne/raXCkJKZi72esM0 Good luck and thanks for the question!

Hi Mike, thanks to your reviews, I have narrowed my choice of mattresses down to two. The Purple 4, or the TP Pro Adapt Medium Hybrid. I am a side sleeper, which means I require pressure relief. I believe either of these mattresses will provide that. I also tend to sleep hot. From personal experience, I know the Purple provides a neutral sleep temperature, but I am concerned the TP Pro Adapt Medium Hybrid might not. If I chose the TP Pro Adapt Medium Hybrid, do you have any suggestions on creating a neutral sleep temperature?
@hollyojeda13085 жыл бұрын
I came VERY close to getting the purple as we had them in our local store and loved the flexible bounce. The fact that purple has a MONEY BACK guarantee makes it easy to "try out" without fear of being stuck with it. Unfortunately we went with the proadapt medium and its far to firm for us. Husband carried 50lbs of weights in his hands and jogged over the mattress trying to open up the cells but to no avail. Folks keep telling us we need to soften the bed and that we will love it after 30 days...still not feeling it (but its an excellent cardio & leg strengthening session when we jog on it. LOL) I wish we had started with purple because of their money back policy. Fortunately, after watching this great video I think the medium hybrid will do the trick as we can ONLY exchange our bed for another-no money back. Sooo, all that being said if I had it to do again I would start with purple. Its important you keep a good waterproof protector over the mattress because if you spill coffee or anything you are stuck with the bed. Good luck and it would be great to hear what you decide on and how it fits for your body :)

How does "cool to the touch" matter if everyone is gonna put sheets on them?
@goodbed3 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. We get this one a lot, and in fact there may even be other comments on this very video that ask about this. The short answer is that sheets certainly do mitigate the "coolness to the touch" experience. However they don't remove the cooling benefit. The cooling effect is created by the fact that the cooling features are able to absorb heat from your body, and as this heat is being pulled from your body it creates a sensation of coolness. When you place materials between you and the cooling feature, it simply takes the heat a little longer to reach the cooling feature. But it still does reach, and as/when it does, you still benefit from it. However it is not as palpable as when you are touching that cooling feature directly. I hopet that's helpful.

My question is SUPER late but I’m hoping you can still answer it. I’ve been in mattress Hades! I started with a Tempurpedic LuxeAdapt Soft, and it was terrible on my lower back. Exchanged for an Icomfort Soft, still horrible, now I have a SF Hurston Firm, no lower back pain, but now upper back pain. I’m a combination side/stomach sleeper. A relative of mine has a Sealy Extra Firm Memory Foam, and I get the BEST sleep when visiting, but they don’t make that mattress anymore. I’m now considering another Tempurpedic but either the Medium Pro Adapt or Firm Luxe Adapt. Any suggestions? I just want to get a good nights rest. Also for reference I’m 5’9 and 137 lbs.
@goodbed2 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Yes, the side / stomach combination is one of the hardest to balance because your needs in these two sleep positions are directly at odds with one another. On the LuxeAdapt Soft and iComfort Soft, you were getting good spinal alignment on your side but too much sinkage in your midsection when on your stomach -- this causes your back to overarch, leading to lower back pain. On the Hurston Firm, you were getting good support on your stomach but not enough conformance on your side to allow your shoulders to sink into the mattress -- this can cause upper back pain due to the curvature in your upper spine. What you need is a mattress that offers more conformance than it does sinkage. This can be hard to find since the way most mattresses are designed, these two characteristics go hand in hand -- meaning, as you get more conformance, you also get more sinkage, and vice versa. This is the case with both the LuxeAdapt Firm and the ProAdapt Medium. That said, there are some mattresses that are better at offering more of one of these than the other. Here are some examples that I'd recommend you look at, along with links to our in-depth reviews of these mattresses: * Purple Original: www.goodbed.com/reviews/purple-mattress-review/ (note: if you have a partner who weighs 200 lbs or more, know that this one will not be as good for stomach sleeping as the Purple Hybrid below) * Purple Hybrid (2"): www.goodbed.com/reviews/purple-4-mattress-review/ * Casper Original: www.goodbed.com/reviews/casper-mattress-review/ * Brooklyn Aurora Firm: www.goodbed.com/reviews/brooklyn-aurora-mattress-review/ * Brooklyn Signature: www.goodbed.com/reviews/brooklyn-signature-mattress-review/ I hope that's helpful for you! @goodbed6 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. I assume you're talking abut the Loom & Leaf (made by Saatva) rather than the Saatva itself. The flagship Saatva mattress feels nothing like any Tempur-Pedic mattress so it definitely won't be a good substitute. The Loom & Leaf is a similarly constructed mattress to a Tempur-Pedic overall in that it has a substantial amount of that slow-melting memory feel. But unlike the Hybrid model you tried, it won't have any bounce (it has no springs). It also differs in that it has about 1.5" of quilting foam on top that is not memory foam, which makes the memory feel a little less pronounced and the contouring a little less closely hugging than with a Tempur-Pedic. All of these differences are what we call "preference-based" characteristics, so there is no better or worse -- just a matter of determining which is a better match for your personal preferences. I hope that's helpful.

Hi Adriana. Thanks for your question. We actually developed a proprietary mattress matching quiz to answer this type of question more exactly than we can here because it uses a more complete set of information about your requirements, and then filters through thousands of mattresses to highlight the ones that are most likely to match your needs. As it seems you may already know, mattresses are very personal -- and everyone has very specific needs, preferences, and priorities. Very generally, stomach sleepers need firmer support and less cushioning depth in the hip area to prevent the back from over-arching, but to what degree will depends on your size, weight, and other factors that the quiz takes into account. You can find the GoodBed Quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ I hope you find it helpful in your search.

Hi, thanks for the awesome review! My husband and I just went into the Tempurpedic store to test out mattresses and decided we like the ProAdapt line. But, we're struggling with which firmness level to get. We are replacing a first gen Tempurpedic, so we're used to sleeping on memory foam, but they've changed a lot! I am mostly a stomach/side sleeper (5' 110 lbs) and my husband is a back/side sleeper (6' 2" 195 lbs). I love the feeling of a soft mattress, but read that with mostly sleeping on my stomach firmer is better. My husband prefers a firmer feel. I'm trying to narrow it down between the ProAdapt medium and medium hybrid. My husband likes the firm feeling of the medium and I like the extra give from the hybrid. For our sleeping needs and different body sizes which mattress would you say is the best compromise? Thanks so much!
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah. It's true that we typically recommend firmer mattresses for stomach sleepers. However, in your case, you are so light that a given mattress is going to feel firmer to you than it does to our 200-pound tester (who is about the same size as your husband). What you are talking about here is personal preference -- from a support standpoint, it sounds like either suits both of your needs. So it comes down to hammering out who 'wins' in terms of that softness preference. You don't mention what size you need, but if you are looking for a king size, one option is to buy two twin XL mattresses and place them side by side on your frame (be sure to get mattresses of the same height). Something else to think about -- the Hybrid version is going to be bouncier than the ProAdapt. That's something most couples have an opinion on. Some couples like a mattress with a little bounce for sex, for example. With an all-foam bed like the ProAdapt, it won't have any bounce at all. So for you two, that might be a tiebreaker. Hope that's helpful!
