I played Mardu Dragons. Did pretty well with it. Crackling Doom is just so good right now. Coupled with Foul-tongued Invocation and you get rid of Thunderbreaks without taking any damage for it.

For the record: Turn 2 Knuckleblade is one of the best feelings ever. Also...FOR THE FRONTIER! I'm considering taking my Temur Midrange and turn it into Aggro. It'd probably do better in my local meta. Only thing I need is a full playset of Thunderbreak and Rabblemasters. Nice deck tech. Seeing the old bear-punchers gettin' some love is always great!
@michaelgiugliarelli80139 жыл бұрын
Kuro the Rabbit I agree, turn 2 Knuckleblade, or turn 3 hasted Knuckleblade is the best. You feel like a boss, especially when a 2nd one follows the turn after, or if you follow it with a Surrak, the Hunt Caller.

At my local gaming store, Abzahn Control and Mono-Red Aggro rule the meta. Esper Control and Jeskai Control are slowly reaching their way to the top lately, though. I have stored up cards for a decent Temur deck for a while now, hoping one day it'll pay off. This decklist holds promise. I have 2x Sarkhan Unbroken, though... and I really like what he does in our meta. I'll consider modifying after I get a feel for the deck. Lastly, I gotta say: I really like that you give commentary about how to sideboard properly, what thoughts to consider when deciding to mulligan, and what match-ups I should be wary of. It's definitely more thorough than most deck tech videos I've seen, where they simply say "These cards for aggro, these cards for control, these cards for mirror, etc." :)

I chose to also run a Temur deck this gameday. Was able to almost win but got shot short at the 3rd round of playoffs. My build makes use of more mana creatures (3 rattleclaw mystics) and more than 10 non Creature spells, which included Temur charm, mainboard stubborn denial Sarkhan Unbroken (card advantage and dragon tokens) and a 1 of hour of need (mana dorks late game still get to contribute). I like the tempo based strategy a bit better than the aggro build because I find it more versatile, also with the presence of too many control decks.

I played Green/White midrange at my game day. The Eidolon of Rhetoric being my unintentional win condition. I got knocked out in the semifinals for a fourth place finish. Earned me 6 boosters, and a promo thunderbreak regent (if they arrive, they haven't yet.)

Raaanch I beg to differ on that one Ranchy :/ Rabblemaster prices are quite high, so is the Regent, let alone the lands... The rest of the cards is quite affordable though (although I have like 3/4ths of the deck ready, the missing pieces make it's price go either 2x of 3x original price)

Dear Wedge, I am a magic player who frequently goes to my local game store for FNM. My decks are usually homebrews in a format where netdecking is very common. I don't completely ignore the metagame however, in fact I am very conscious of what is powerful in standard and what isn't. I am always trying to improve my deck, and actually am very happy when I lose or something doesn't turn out the way I expected. My best record at FNM was 3-2 but I normally finish 2-3. I feel that deck building is one of my strong suits and I use that to my advantage. My question is: What are your thoughts on home brewing and do you have any tips? I feel like standard has lost it's originality and I feel that it has become very easy to win by using the internet. For a player that made a deck from standard cards I had sitting around in a box, I feel like a did pretty well. P.S. my deck is blue/red aggro.

Hey Wedge, watching this for the second time. Game day for me both days were broad on the expectations. I've tried a botch version of mono U and though I did make the top 8 it just doesn't seem as powerful as before. Trying a different version and testing for the next couple of FNM's but thats not the important part. The important part was the significantly more fruitful with Temur aggro. I made top 4 and got beat out by Abzan aggro. Besting Abzan control, Something Jeskai midrangeish, and then RWBU control. I think its when people plan out to be control decks or to beat control decks, Temur aggro fits right in the middle for a decent match up against pretty much any deck. I still believe in main deck Stubborn Denial's but temur charm and ascendacy have finally came out of my build for the better. (I ran them main board for the long game mini slingshot) Also I Play 3 Stormbreath, metas are different every but stormbreath is a 4/4 with hast and protection from white. Asides from that I completely agrree with everything.

@hammdogporkington30589 жыл бұрын
Dommercoolstuff Wild Slash, Lightning Strike and Stoke for the burn spells. Bile Blight, Downfall and Murderous Cut are all pretty interchangeable between main and sideboard, but you'll want some form of removal. For creature threats: Butcher, Rabblemaster, Bloodsoaked Champion and Seeker of the Way can create huge early pressure, which is exactly what you'll want to be doing. At the top-end, Sarkhan and Wingmate Roc can close the door on your opponent pretty quickly. Finally, Chandra, Sorin and Hordeling Outburst are flexible cards that can be an engine of their own or support your other threats.

@trentsims9 жыл бұрын
minus the dragons this is basically my standard deck. I run four rattleclaw mystic's and a few Sagu Mauler's. Sagu Mauler is a complete monster since a 6/6 trample that that is nearly impossible to remove is just good. Even if they have a board wipe it is very easy post side board to prevent them. Also having more than one vastly different morph in the deck keeps my opponents guessing. Rattleclaw also helps when my mana base is giving my trouble since I can morph Rattleclaw down for 3 colorless and start fixing right away.

Yea I run it as a 3 of in my Temur deck. Very good against control decks as a hasty threat that gets bigger each passing turn. Also gives some late game card advantage.
@riskae_9 жыл бұрын
It was very painful for me to cut my shamans. I love what the card does when you have a board or get him out early, but with that 2 toughness you typically only will have him around for one turn :( thunderbreak just has so much more potential to stick around and deal consistent damage. I dunno, I suppose it depends on the meta you play as well. Tons of people are on mono red at my shop, so shaman just died way too much for my liking..
@tomjackson50939 жыл бұрын
I like this deck, but in my own sole opinion, I think it has some room for improval. My advise, cut blue. I don't see the reason to run blue solely for Savage knuckleblade, Frost walker and Stubborn denial. There are enough good red and green aggressive creature spells in standard right now to cut blue entirely and make the mana base more efficient. Also, I would run 4 copies of Surrak, the hunt caller. If you play Boon satyr turn 2 off of an elvish mystic and Surrak turn 3, you would swing for 9 on turn 3. That's right, 9. If you can do that on the play you are very likely to just win the game, and you should always aim to maximise the possibility to be able to pull it off. If you run 4 copies of Rabblemaster and Boon Satyr(which you should), you are actually quite likely to pull this synergy off. Also, if you're up against UB control, you typically don't want to side in protection against removal because you can't really race it. You would much rather put more pressure on your opponent before you give them enough time to get enough lands, card advantage and removal to stabilize. As a control player myself, I lose more often against aggro decks being more aggressive after sideboard than I lose against aggro decks siding in slow protection and counter-answers. Anyways, I would like to hear your opinion on this wedge, and as always, great vid.
@tomjackson50939 жыл бұрын
***** You want to end the game before your opponent even has the time to cast board wipes. Counterspells are only good in an aggro deck if you already have many creatures on the board and you want to protect them. In other words, it's very situational. You don't want to draw a counterspell in your opening hand or before you have enough board presence. You risk not playing enough threats, thus putting your opponent at an advantage.
@sf9ersfan339 жыл бұрын
A legendary creature as a 4 of? I don't see hardly G/R aggressive or midrange strategies with him as a 4 of. Pretty terrible if you draw multiples. I disagree a lot with cutting the blue from the deck. You aren't playing mono red, you're playing Temur aggro. You'll almost never kill a control player by the time they would have up 5 mana for a board wipe like Crux of Fate or End Hostilities. Even in your perfect scenario of swinging for 9 on turn 3, you would also have to be on the play and even then, one ultimate price or Silumgars scorn completely ruins your day. Scorn is way too good way too early to let you go underneath easily with a Temur deck. But countering their turn 5 crux of fate with a stubborn denial pretty much instantly wins the game.
