On June 4, 1974 the Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians tried to play a baseball game. They were not entirely successful.
Special thanks to Jon Bois, without whom I wouldn't even have thought it possible to make something like this.

This is tremendous, man. If Jon Bois dubbed this over, I’d have no problem believing he made it. Fantastic soundtrack, too.

Ten-cent, 12-ounce beers were a staple on college campuses in the mid-1970s. Those were good days.

Have you pitched this to ESPN? It's pratically ready to go as a 30 for 30. Character development, cohesive narrative, pacing, mixture of text and spoken word, clever editing. It's a real statement. I wish you well!

Using a bunt up first base line to force a pitcher close enough to run up his back is nothing new. 'Contact' hitters would use this for payback and it wouldn't be as obvious as charging the mound, possibly avoiding a fine and suspension. Clip of Jackie Robinson forcing the pitcher and first baseman towards foul line and since they were not close enough to run over, he took out the second baseman covering first @ 1:09... kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2TQnHtsZ8qBja8 Who sez it isn't a 'contact' game? It's pronounced See-zarr Toe-var. When it came to streakers, David Niven after being interrupted during an Oscar show said "...isn't it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?"..." Good chance that Billy let be known that he would back up any Rangers player who bunt/collision play, he may had pulled that off as a player. Your analysis of Billy is correct, just that the Yanks first hired him during the '75 season. Lowenstein always had a flair for the dramatic moment. Photo @ 31:00 is of "Disco Demolition Night' in Chicago, not the 10 cent beer night. Just over 2 years later, I experienced a out-of-control riot at Yankee Stadium when Chambliss hit the homer to win AL pennant. The stampede down the aisles to the field was like nothing I'd ever seen in person as a 16 year old - frightening. This was fueled by excessive drinking and drugs before and during the game - you could smell the pot almost everywhere - not to mention the substances taken in other ways. Teams were using security measures that assumed that customers were for the most part sober and/or respectful. So much for the 70's. Pretty well done, although a bit over-produced. I did my time in Bristol and this could pass for content from 'Mother Ship' but just remember Sal Marciano's words " happiness is seeing Bristol in your rear-view mirror..."

One question: Ingoing beer means outgoing piss. Where did all that urine go? It is well known that Cleveland Stadium had inadequate restrooms.

One thing that you left out was the effect of Cleveland Sports Talk radio on the riot. In the days leading up to June 4, talk show hosts such as Pete Franklin fueled the tension by egging on listeners to take what the Rangers did the previous week as incentive to fight back when Texas came to town.

Andrew you did a great job explaining the whole situation what led up to it , the aftermath along with the history of what happened . I was 9 at the time of 10 cent beer nite , and by this time the Yankees had already ripped off the Indians blind with lop sided trades !! Keep up the good work
