Great CTC. My parents were married on 29 June 1975. Less than 20 people attended. There's just one photograph of event in which all those who attended are in the frame. I agree that we need to read up. Please suggest some good books on the Emergency.

SG Not emergency, but Leaders which you referred earned their statures... While, Indira to Rahul, inherited their statuses.. If emergency not imposed, the family and its party would have died a natural death long ago.. UPA would not have happened..

Totally agree there needs to be a strong opposition. But right now in India, how is it any less than an emergency? Press is not free, freedom of speech is curtailed and anyone can be chucked in prison for months without a charge. This government has imposed emergency on us covertly

The fact that you are able to comment this crap here is enough evidence that it is nowhere near to Emergency 😂

Modi was one of the most insignificant person during the emergency and shedding the maximum crocodile tears. As Shekar rightly mentioned, all the jailed political leaders got an opportunity to play volleyball, plan and oust Indira during the election that followed. Media also got the much required traction and gained importance.
