Here's the problems with this Stun guns/taser : battery can die if not constantly charged and must make contact with skin. Thick clothes can block the teeth from shocking you. Pepper spray: expires after some time and doesn't work if the eyes are covered with glasses or a mask. Stick /kabuton : can break under force and only useful at very close range. Tactical pen : only useful if it hits a sensitive area like the eye or neck and can only be used in close range. Useless if it hits thick clothing. Emergency bell: must be constantly charged and will be unnoticed if you're in a noisy area like at a roadside or in a railway station. Knives: limited by the law as different types of knives require license but is still a good option considering the above. A criminal can hold you at gunpoint and won't hesitate to shoot whilst you try and ring your emergency bell or reach for pepper spray/knife or a stick. Realistically speaking guns are the best option and restricting gun ownership only hurts the responsible law abiding public and helps give power to criminals.

There are ways to get a gun without licence and keep them for self defence purposes without getting caught but since in India, Specially U.P and Bihar people can misuse the guns if licence free ownership is allowed like some states of the U.S !

None of these are effective in protecting them self. All those mentioned in this video need training to use, except pepper spray and Teaser, but even these will be useful for one or two to deter. So not really sure self protection devices in India. However, something is better than nothing.
