Still think the deck should have been running 4 syncopate. But I love the deck! Great stuff Jim

Yep... i like 3...and Blue Sun has been disapointing, with all those sweepers...same as the Lessons and Scatters, swapped then for Experimental Augurys, Farewells and a couple Walkers (Teferi is good with all the big card draw, and Emperor always deliver)

I have really liked substituting stern lesson for experimental augury. It can act like a free spell with mindsplice out, help push the last poison counter, and most fun, fiddle with fable of the mirror breaker and wedding announcements. Wedding announcement can have the second activation skipped straight up, and fable, you can make them have less selection by triggering II early and most importantly walk the flipped side into your removal/board wipes by flipping it early. I am also interested in this deck in pioneer where sphinx’s rev and pull from tomorrow can replace silver scrutiny

As much as I hate UW control, this deck seems pretty cool. I lost to it one time, where my opponent cast White Sun's Twilight for 12, gave them all haste, and killed me out of nowhere at the end of a 25 minute game. I was too impressed to be salty lol

I'm definitely a fan of main-deck 2x Lockdown over Blue Sun's. Our win con is a wrath, so most of the time we're blowing up the stolen creature(s) anyway. It's also so good at clearing up the board of early beaters like Bloodtithe Harvester and underdog, which this deck struggle against. Plus I've often eaten the clue tokens that Fateful absence leaves behind.
@TheChzoronzon Жыл бұрын
I also took out the BS (pun intended)
@Divinevert Жыл бұрын
Problem with lockdown is its not a wrath. It's just temporary and vs the white decks, they board in artifact hate and just have incidental enchantment hate (loran, cathar, etc)
@FlourescentPotato Жыл бұрын
You don't need to milk value off the wrath, you'll win eventually so just wrathing your own creatures is fine too
@TheChzoronzon Жыл бұрын
@@FlourescentPotato Stealing a single creature just enables the removal almost every deck have... minor, usually inconsequential tempo advantage and that's it. Very meh...more card draw or some PW instead (Wanderer or Teferi) is much better, imo

45:25 If that stern lesson was an experimental augury, you might have been able to dig your way into the game ;) That aside I'm very happy to see this deck get a second look over. These kind of decks are so much fun.

Experimental Augury is good as early selection and synergizes with Apparatus later
@Divinevert Жыл бұрын
@@TheChzoronzon in the control and midrange matchups, where they are trying to duress you and play all their 2-for-1 threats, you just need a pure volume of cards. Drawing 3 and pitching a basic is just a huge win most of the time. If you have to discard 2, at least you dug the same depth and had some additional selection by being able to discard trash from hand.
@rekenner Жыл бұрын
@@TheChzoronzon Except that Anticipate isn't "good selection". It's never really been playable, except in very low power standard formats, which this isn't
@TheChzoronzon Жыл бұрын
@@rekenner It's not Anticipate, it's Anticipate + Proliferate. And Impulse has been an staple for years in Monoblue spells. In a deck full of X spells, I gladly swap one more card seen for a counter on Apparatus, the core of the build.
@TheChzoronzon Жыл бұрын
@@Divinevert In a deck like this, imo, what you want it's to survive until you can cast a big White Sun. The mix of selection and proliferate does that admirably well For the control match up, where you aren't time pressed, you want to find and cast some big Scrutiny. Again, it's good for that. And early on it baits counterspells and let's you find your Negates to protect your big Scrutinies. I don't like to pitch Lands in this deck, btw... I want to drop one every turn

The proliferate anticipate is basically a 1 mana grow your mind splice apparatus. I think you could probably use at least 3 for some better selection
@kaemonbonet4931 Жыл бұрын
It's basically free if you have an x spell because it pays for itself. I think it's probably better than the discard draw spell simply because it's a 2 drop which might get you to your lands 3/4 when you're waiting to drop the apparatus
