I agree that the music mostly was better but to tell the truth the rock & roll bands played a lot of covers and mostly from southern blues or folk songs, today most rock & roll bands write and arrange all there songs themselves alot even doing most of the producing and engineering of course today's artist have more freedom compared to past artist that being said this is still my favorite generation of music Alvin Lee is a beast

I couldn't agree more. I had the unbelievable experience of going to the infamous Woodstock festival when I was just 16. I was living in NJ, and still, Everybody was trying to find their way if they could. The NY Thruway was closed. Cars were piled on top of one another like toys. Alvin Lee, performed this song on that stage and I will never forget it. It was 1969 and I am so lucky, if not blessed to have been there . The entire experience, changed my life forever!!!

Alvin Lee is THE REASON i learned to play guitar! After watching him play at Woodstock (the movie only, unfortunately), I instantly became a lifelong fan. I think the thing that lets Ten Years After down is their lyrics. The music is GREAT, the players were all GREAT. I still consider Alvin Lee to be my musical idol, and miss him dearly. I took it pretty hard when I heard he passed. One of my favorite songs by TYA = "Help Me" from their live album. Great performance.

Ten Years After is my favorite Blues Rock group of ALL TIME. Alvin Lee my favorite guitarist of ALL TIME. I was fortunate enough to c the original Ten Years After 6 times and Alvin 4 times without Ten Years After. The first time I saw them was on April 4th 1970 at the Capitol Theater in Portchester NY. Scott Muni the Legendary DJ for WNEW-FM introduced them. He was telling us of their performance at WOODSTOCK and go c the movie. But this line I'll never forget. "AND HERE THEY ARE THE GROUP THAT TORE UP WOODSTOCK TEN YEARS AFTER". At 18 that made a big IMPRESSION ON ME. They opened up with Love Like A Man. Finished with I'm Going Home. Then for their encore did the best version of Sweet Little Sixteen. It is to this day a night I'll never forget. The best version of Help Me is from the album Live At The Fillmore East from 1970.

For my money, the best live performance of the entire 69' Woodstock Festival was Alvin Lee and Ten Years After's performance of "I'm Going Home" played at 100MPH on steroids! That performance busted the whole festival wide open!

That opening riff is iconic, and then nothing but hard driving blues. It's awesome. I feel bad for kids growing up listening to crap made with drum machines, synthesized bass and no guitars at all. That's probably why Gen-z is so unhappy, they don't have rock and roll.

I was at this show with my older brother and remember it like it was yesterday. The fullness in sound of three of them was as big as a 5 piece band. They were this high energy throughout the show and I think this was the last song of the set. Everyone left walking out after the show in a daze...
