Tench Fishing: The Future

In a joint initiative with the Tenchfishers, the Angling Trust welcomes the launch of a new project to promote tench and their availability to anglers in the UK.
Tench Fishing: The Future (TFTF) can trace its roots back to January 2020, where a workshop was held to discuss the current state of tench fishing in England. Attended by the Environment Agency, Institute of Fisheries Management and other key organisations, it was concluded that new efforts could help drive forward a renewed interest in tench, with the goal of securing a brighter future for the species. Taking inspiration in part from the National Crucian Conservation Project, TFTF aims to raise the profile of tench fishing, and encourage fishery managers to consider tench as an option when developing their waters.
To support this, a new knowledge base has been created on the Angling Trust website where detailed guidance can be found on creating a tench-friendly fishery. The campaign aims to:· Educate and share knowledge of tench and tench fishing· Raise the profile of tench fishing· Protect existing tench fishing· Encourage the promotion of tench fisheries· Work with existing national and regional bodies· Encourage appropriate bodies to consider the role of tench as a valuable asset to their fisheries.

Tench are without doubt my favourite species but one thing that is lacking on the tenchfishers and angling trust website are lists of venues where tench are predominant. There are a handful on the website but there are fisheries and canals up and down the country that have good stocks of tench but don't seem to be publicised in any way. Rigs / baits / setups are all readily available in the public domain but only useful if you're fishing in the right waters / pegs where the fish are present. A venue map / list of places to go where you can pick and go and catch tench would massively increase the popularity of the species.

Witam uprzejmie! Lin, to najpiękniejsza dla mnie ryba pod słońcem! Piszę to pomimo, że od wielu lat łowię głównie karpie w łowiskach komercyjnych. Wszystkie linowe wody w których łowiłem przeszły do historii. Zostały ograbione z tych pięknych ryb jakimi są liny przez mięsiarzy... Zostały mi tylko wspomnienia kiedy jeszcze było mi dane łowić moje ukochane czerwonookie piękności. Dobrze, że w ogóle zostały mi łowiska komercyjne. Gdyby nie one to całą swoją pasję jaką jest wędkowanie według zasady złów i wypuść mógłbym utopić w szambie... Oj, byłbym wtedy bardzo nieszczęśliwym człowiekiem... Bardzo Wam zazdroszczę Panowie, że macie wspaniałe linowe wody i możecie je regularnie łowić. Ale z drugiej strony cieszę się, że właśnie Wam jest dane doświadczać ogromnych emocji związanych z połowem linów! Pozdrawiam Was serdecznie i czekam na kolejne nagrania, Łukasz!!!

My fishing club has just removed all the carp from our little pond to restock with tech and Crucian Carp, which is amazing. We're only a small club with one pond, and it costs a lot of money and time it would be lovely if you anyone who will donate more tech maybe some bigger one's we could only afford few 1lbs we getting the Crucian Carp from the EA .But bigger tech would keep the other members happy about losing their carp.

Think one of the problems is finding fisheries that have the better sized Tench. The 7lb, 8lb and bigger. I've heard plenty of stories of 9lb and bigger.

The carp scene needs to be educated in the wellbeing of tench.. they veiw them as a nuisance fish...are mistreated as a result
