Got wavy pink spindle cells? It's more likely tendon, fascia, or ligament (dense regular connective tissue) rather than nerve. Everyone teaches that nerve and neural lesions are wavy, but I think that the most wavy spindle cells are actually fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. My former fellow, Dr. Ed Fulton, said tendon/fascia reminds him of instant Ramen noodles. So I have dubbed this the "Ramen noodles sign of Fulton" in his honor! :-D
List of topics discussed (click timestamp to jump to that part of the video):
Quick explanation of Ramen noodle sign for tendon/fascia: 0:00 to 4:00
Additional examples of tendon/fascia: 4:00

Very useful practical video, thanks for uploading! Would you consider doing a video on perineural invasion particularly in small dermal nerves?

@@JMGardnerMD I was wondering if you could add these channels to your pathology youtube channel playlists. They arenot my channels but I think they deserve more exposure. The first one is Pathweb Teacher it covers a good range of general pathology gross specimens and also does cytology walkthrough videos in a similar manner to your skin tutorial videos. The next one is Gross Cutting Room - It just has very high quality grossing videos.

Hi Jerad. I would love if you could do some videos on atypical melanocytic lesions and melanoma. I find those extremely challenging

Thank you for the lovely shout-out in the video! This is a great video, really helpful to distinguish these common look-a-likes in histological sections. In reference to the nodes of Ranvier, you can see them with the light microscope but often best viewed after staining the myelin sheaths (e.g. osmium tetroxide).

Hi jerard! I love your videos! They are very helpful ... but I don't speak English perfectly, so there are parts that I can't take advantage of ... Is there a possibility to allow subtitles in Spanish?

Yes if you can find someone to transcribe the video into Spanish, I am happy to upload the transcription to KZbin. My Spanish is not good enough to do this however.
