Nice review and video. I found it to be very helpful as the menu and instructions are not as straightforward as perhaps they could be. The numbers in the lower right corner are milliamp-hours. So, for example, if you discharge a cell a a constant amperage, say 0.5 amps, when the process has completed, if you multiply the discharge current (0.5 for instance) times the time in minutes / 60 to convert it to hours, the result will be equal to that number in the lower right - mAH, a measure of energy that was stored in the cell. If you now charge that cell, the system monitors the changing current and stores incremental values for mAh as the cell is charging. If it was fully charged before discharge, they you will see that after the charge cycle is completed, the number in the lower right is approximately equal to the discharge mAh. A very useful capability in assessing the health of cells, I think, and definitely in assessing their quality as I've had some 18650's that say 4700 mAh on them bit only test at 268; quite a difference ! :D

Hmmm panicking a bit now,all this talk of battery storage etc lol. Should I be using a charger/balancer on my 3.7v (Hubsan x4 type) batteries? How long does it take before you start damaging your batteries by not storing them? Thx Dod.
@TheRCAddict8 жыл бұрын
On a 1S battery, there is no such thing as balancing, as there is only one cell to being with. As for storage, 1S low capacity batteries have very very few Watt hours to being with, so even if they are left dead or full, VERY unlikely anything will happen even if they puff. I still storage every battery I have after i am done using it though. I would say a few days is ok before you really should, although I never let anything go overnight. Also most toy quads LVC is built in early, at like 3.8 or 3.6 volts, so once the load is stopped, it comes back up to around 3.8, so it is already storaged :) I think they did this as people buying the toys ones will not know, and this keeps it safer. Hope this helps :P

Dod Lug No problem man :) If you are looking for one to just check batteries, maybe look at the HobbyKing Cell Meter 6. It is similar to the little square ones, but larger. It has nicer features, with double the voltage settings. Also tells you other things about the cells. Biggest reason I am telling you this one, is it does not beep right away when plugged in (unless cells are lower than your set value), unlike the square ones which get super anooying the check batteries with.

+The RCAddict Whats the charge time, say on a 1300mah lipo?
@TheRCAddict9 жыл бұрын
axes dnyd Depends entirely on what you set it to. You could charge is at 0.1A and it would take about 10 hours, or you could charge it 5.0A and it would take about 26 minutes. The faster you charge the LiPo, depending on the brand, and quality of it, could hurt it though. I charge mine a 2C by themselves, which on a 1300 is 2.6A, or when charging all three at once (I have a parallel charging board) at 5.0A as it is split into 3 so 1.6A per battery.
@iaxe31079 жыл бұрын
+The RCAddict Yea, i meant like 1.3A or 2.6A as you say by itself.
@TheRCAddict9 жыл бұрын
axes dnyd Well, it is really all math. If it is a 1300mAh pack, or 1.3A pack, and you charge at 1.3A, it should take 1 hour. Charge it at 2.6A and it will take half an hour (about, depending on how far drained) or charging at .7A should take about 2hours. It is recommened for best battery life and health to always balance charge, and charge at 1C, which on a 1.3A pack, is 1.3A, very simple :)

Hey man quick question how long does it take you to charge your ominus ? Def thinking about getting this charger !
@TheRCAddict9 жыл бұрын
James Towne It depends on how fast you charge your batteries. The general rule is say it is a 1200mAh pack you charge at 1.2A or a 400mAhb pack .4A so the Ominus is 700mAh so .7A which will take about an hour as it is "milliamps per hour" You can charge batteries faster, I usually do .9A for my Ominus but the faster you charge/discharge you shorter the overall life span of the batter will be. It is a really nice charger for the price and I think it would be helpful (and nice) to alot of people ":D

I dont get it why would you discharge your lipo ? XD
@TheRCAddict9 жыл бұрын
Hussein CIA Say you want to put the battery into storage charge which is 3.8V and you charged it but did not have time to fly or whatever it is so you put it on storage and it detects if it is above or below the 3.8V and if it is above it will bring it down by drawing power from the battery into the charger making it into heat which is why it is designed like a big heatsink :D Also cells function better when they have been "broken" in so you can either do the cycle function where it will charge then discharge or you could just be wanting to dispose of it and bringing it down to a lower voltage will mean less time in the water or whatever method you are using to discharge. I dont think it will let you go down to 0V. I don't use that feature often but it can be nice to have :)
