As crazy as it sounds you almost need to leave a coach there for at least 5 years until they have gotten to a point where they are a mediocre team so that you can get decent enough talent to bring in a new coach that can work with something.

Tennessee needs a real AD, not some figurehead football coach in the spot. From there, you need to give a coach 4 years to just provide stability. Looking from the outside in, does this come as any surprise??? Let's review the past several years... After firing Butch Jones, UT hires a coach (Schiano) that was not favored by the alumni and the AD listens to folks who know little about football and subsequently let him go. The AD then later resigns. UT hires a former coach who's was fired over a decade ago and hires him AD. The AD's hire for HC was Jeremy Pruitt, a coach with a history of volatility and struggles his first 2 seasons. Then, out of the blue, UT's recruiting takes an abrupt upward curve where just months ago, people were praising the recruiting results. Today - UT fires Pruitt for violations that land the program in deep trouble. Is there another program in the NCAA that is more of a dumpster fire than that one in Knoxville?? FSU comes close with their fall from grace, but I'm not sure I would even make that comparison.
