As a little girl I used to listen to a record album my mom had ordered from television called “The Fabulous 50’s” which seemed so ancient then but now I realize it was only ten years or so before I was born lol. Anyway I memorized several of the songs on that album, including this one, and enjoyed singing them so much. This song was recorded by many female singers in the 50s and 60s but in my opinion, Connie Francis' version is the best. That may be heresy to some, but this version is so beautiful. Her wonderful voice is used to great effect, and the stillness of her pauses match the sadness of the lyrics. Truly lovely.

I first heard this song I feel pretty sure when I was graduating from the Karachi Grammar School in 1953 at the school dance. So it must be older than 1959. And I am now 82. Sitting in garden in Berkshire UK and sentimentalising. Enjoy folks.
