I lived in Tennessee for almost a year when I was in the military and I they were some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. I had never seen cotton and only heard about or seen Beale street or the town square where there was a free concert every night. It was amazing and the people were just down to earth country folks like back home in north central Florida. I remember seeing the ducks cross the street for the first time at the Peabody. My haven’t things changed. Not for the better either. I don’t understand why people have elected representatives that have allowed that wonderful community to end up in the shape it is. The storm is just the final straw and cleaning. Florida will be next if we’re not lucky. I don’t know why the military hasn’t offered a hand because they would have when I was there in the early 1980’s. There was 35k troops there and 35k young men can get a bunch of things accomplished. The national guard should be called in because we have bridge builders and earth movers a couple of miles from here. My prayers go out for all of them
@happylivinginparadise9151
@happylivinginparadise9151 Ай бұрын
Do your research. The National Guard, the utility companies, shelters were already on stand by and they are helping. That part of the country has some extremely remote homesteads and getting to them is not easy. The government cannot do everything for everyone and that’s why savy and compassionate private citizens are so needed and valued as front line responders in any crisis. Don’t lessen their efforts with your misinformation. Lastly the government cannot pay for everyone’s home to be rebuilt but they can offer low interest loans and help with initial cleanups. We experienced this in the recent Lāhaina, Maui fires. We are lucky today to have FEMA. Prior to FEMA, if crisis hit, you were on your own.

Climate change is a fear mongering tactic, we have no way of understanding the grand scale of climate change to the degree that the coined term "climate change" is often used to describe...the theory that is most often proven false. Yes the climate is changing and as far as we know it always has. Data collection about these things doesn't go back very far, at least as far as consistent reliable numbers go. @amandawolfe1054
@amandawolfe1054 Ай бұрын
Only some towns in Northern East TN were told to evacuate, and only had a few minutes to do so. By the time some got the orders to evacuate, the roads were already too flooded to be able to make it. Some had already lost electricity and therefore didn't know about it. One factory initially told their workers that if they left they'd, be fired, and then were only released after the company lost power and the streets were flooded; 6 of those workers got swept away in the flood waters and 2-3 are still missing. In one town it got so bad, many coffins buried in a nearby cemetery were seen flooting down the road. You've no real idea what you're talking about at all.
