I have to admit this was a good video. The last part about the lag is a lot harder to accomplish than he and the guys on the ATP make it seem. If it was so easy everyone on the WTA would do it. But they do not (but should). If you are at a tennis academy or hope to play D1 tennis you better do it because your competition and opponents will be doing it. They will hit the ball harder than you and with less effort. You will get more tired than they will. But my students definitely got blowback from high school coaches and other teachers who do not know how to lag. Just like when I taught rotation and open stance 20 years ago, area teachers still teaching closed stance classic strokes would say this rotation stuff was garbage. I still see teachers teaching closed stance classic strokes. There is a huge market for mediocracy.

You are not the only one to pay for a human ball machine. Teaching pros should watch more tennis videos like this one then share these tips and methods to their paying students.

@@imateapot51 Agree. These are the Vic Braden coaches still out there teaching the forehand from the wood racket area. They hate the word rotation! 😂

Hi Robert, you're soooo right mate. Since I started searching training videos, one alone would have saved me a lot of money. One by a Rick Macci (putting your right foot parallel to the baseline while using its arch to hold the 45° oriented left foot heel as ready position to serve), it changed my cursed till then serve.

I am a badminton coach and I often use the term whip to explain how to relax the body to send out power through the legs, hips, upper body and arm. This way of teaching is just right. Exercise on one focus area at a time and repeat this without the ball. You are a great coach.
