Pro tournaments need to use Hawkeye Live AND video replay for double bounces. It amazes me that as spectators we can see multiple replays within seconds of something happening live, and this is anywhere in the world, but the officials that are right there and local are unable to access the exact same material? Incredible. In the time it takes for a player to complain and get a supervisor to the court, the on court umpire could have reviewed the action using a monitor on the chair, on the big screen for the spectators, or, maybe use their own smartphone to see the same replay we do. In this modern age when literally EVERY spectator has access to a smartphone, the fact that umpires cant use this technology is just criminal. Not at all at the same level, but I also play tennis and this already happened to me, so I understand that. But, why does the umpire get involved in that ? Making double faults or serving underarm is not forbidden by the rules and the umpîre sees that Sabalenka does her best and surely doesn't miss on purpose. And she's not her coach, so she has no reason to try to help her either. So, why is the umpire interfering with that ?

I feel like so many refs don't know how to properly explain things. They're right, but their ability to explain themselves concisely is terrible. Perhaps it's due to English not being a first language in many cases, but at the same time you should know how to explain rules and regulations better than anyone. Also, the ref stand should have a monitor with audio that can show replays of points with sound to check the timing of things or see something that was initially missed.
@einarsd42 жыл бұрын
English is 2nd biggest language in the world. This umpire wasn't able to explain his case, because he didn't had any. Maria Sakkari was destroying that umpire with true facts about tennis rules. It was easy for her. Bachi never had any point in this argument. He was badly losing to Sakkari in that argument. That umpire clearly didn't know when the ball counts as dead. He clearly had no clue that ball counts as dead when after the first bounce ball wasn't returned or if after the first bounce it is impossible to return the ball back. In this case Sakkari made forehand ball bounced out of Merten's reach and point was over since it was impossible for a point to continue. Which means that point goes to Sakkari.
@parkercrossland41010 ай бұрын
@@einarsd4 It only becomes dead upon its second bounce. If it hasn't bounced twice, the point is still live. It does not matter if the other player would physically not be capable of getting there. If it did then there would be exposure to a judgement call of timing, which is not good within a sport that wants to be taken seriously.
@einarsd410 ай бұрын
@@parkercrossland410 You just proved how clueless about tennis rules you are. It does matter you clown. You it seems don't know what is winner. A winner is any shot that can't be physically returned and is within singles court. Maria Sakkari was completely correct. Her shot was a winner. Same happened to Zverev couple years ago. He was making like 30 doubles some matches

Funny how Azarenka accuses someone else faking their injury when she did the exact same thing 10 years ago on the same court😊

This is ridiculous that Maria Sakkari not consider chair umpire decision. It is clearly evident that she touched net before the ball left the game...

Cicak is becoming one of the most annoying umpires, her arrogance is just another level.

Yeah and she’s made a lot of mistakes over the years. I think Alberti is arrogant as well and just straight up annoying from what I saw in the vid 😤

Notice how most players who've struggled with service yips have a high ball toss. Sabalenka, Zverev, Sharapova, Safina, Kournikova. I'm obviously not a pro coach, but I wonder why none of those players ever seemed to try lowering their toss? It must make timing unnecessarily difficult when you're waiting for the ball to fall several feet before you hit it

I've been watching a few of Osorio's matches. Looks like she might become the new Putinseva in a year or so. Fingers crossed. lmao

You clearly don't know tennis rules. You only think that you know, but you actually don't. Sakkari knows tennis rules better than you and that shitty umpire.

anna is so cute and well composed.. I wish you the very best !! I love you i am so sorry i might say things but if there are cuties in the world... somewhere near the top would have to be anna kalinskaya.. the way she expresses her distrust is similar to how rybakina says it as well. exteremely cute.

Kaukeyeva is a shocking umpire. She's made some egregious errors, but missing such a slow ball landing a foot out right under her nose is a farce. She's one of several umpires who seem to feature a disproportionate number of times on this channel for basic errors. It really makes you question the standards.
