Great video guys! Given the opportunity, I will hit the approach shots; this is the shots I trained on. So, it is about 90%. I can manage hitting my FH approach at shoulder height, between zone 3 and 4, and BH approach at zone 3 with my 1HBH. Interestingly, I don't always get the point when I hit that shot in doubles. It takes too long to recover to the ready position after the shot. The opponent net player(s) can always do a reflex volley back at me and the ball would pass me by.

great job!

Play Drive just stay away from that net guy I guess lol that's a good reflex volley, but hey 90% conversion is like perfect, that's Fed numbers

Great video guys, best tip was not to take the racket back when u approach the short ball , i had that flaw. Will try this out Hey Matt dont forget to include me in the raffle ;)

Matt make sure to put him down. If you don't win Kiran it is Matt's fault lol

LOL funny but informative video. So there are two ideal contact points: one at the baseline which is around your waist and another around the service line or closer which is around your chest. My closing rate is probably only around 30% because I was taught to hit in the corner and put it away with a volley. So I don't go for a close shot as much as I should. Great poster! Shows a lot about being a great competitor and sportsmanship in one poster with two of the greatest athletes who have ever lived.

Great Video! My conversion rate is around 50%. The challenge is not skying the ball long or wide when the racket head is held too open at impact, whilst moving up to the net.

My conversion rate is about 2%. That's why I'm watching this series... I also think I got the wrong instruction from coaches. I was gonna shorten up my back-swing but they told me to treat all shots with the same respect, whether from the baseline or approach. Now I know that Pete approves of the compact back-swing for approaches.
@CoffeeBreakTennis6 жыл бұрын
Raul Tennis yes definitely shorten it up for this shot!! You're in transition and things are moving fast, plus you don't want too big of a back swing on any forehand anywhere in the court Thanks for watching/commenting Raul!

You guys have come up with a tremendous topic. If we can feel more comfortable coming to the net and putting our opponent at a disadvantage we can really raise our level at least by a .5 rating Additionally you have the coolest special effects video clips out there!

AMAZING VIDEO AGAIN!!!!!!...BUT I'M LETTING NERVES GET THE BETTER OF ME AND I'M BEING PASSIVE IN CLUTCH MOMENTS
@PeterFreemantennis6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Glad you liked the video...We thought it was pretty good too. We all get nervous in the clutch. One of my favorite approach shots to use when I get nervous is a short biting slice ...easier to execute then hitting out on the ball and makes your opponent who is probably also nervous run forward and get low...this forcing them to come up with a high skill level shot under pressure...NOT easy to do
@joelsuraj25016 жыл бұрын
yeah, I agree too...but still I think it gets better if I start executing no matter the consequences and if I stop putting too much thought on the after effects if I missed that
@PeterFreemantennis6 жыл бұрын
I agree with that too...I am just saying if the nerves get the best of you...it is a great play...and helps you stay aggressive even when you are extremely nervous!

i think my conversion rate is low. i hang back thinking my shot isn't good enough and when i do close it isn't fast enough. i like coming in to take the ball high. i will work on it! Thanks
@PeterFreemantennis6 жыл бұрын
yes Rebecca I used to play like that too. You have to be eager to go to net...takes a lot of practice. You can do it

rebecca mcglothlin yes Pete is right it takes a lot of mental reprogramming, but knowing what you want to do is half the battle just gotta change the muscle memory

I feel my conversion rate is around 60% mainly because I don't come to the net too often. I am a hard aggressive base liner

Hi guys, I'm a lefty player with eastern forehand grip style. I think my rate is about 70%. Im pretty confident with my approach shots, especially two-handed backhand one. I can approach to the net very fast after I hit the shots. However, I always struggle with my forehand approach shots if those are high balls. Because Im using eastern forehand and Im high is about 5"6, I often seem to wait for the ball and hit at the area 2 which is giving time to my opponent. Also, when I really wanna rush the shot, I nomally hit at the area 1 which mostly is an off-center shot. I really wanna ask you guys how can I fix this problem, actually I wanna ask how can I master using eastern forehand grip while this style have some disadvantages? Like what you are doing!Thanks a tons Kornchal,
@PeterFreemantennis6 жыл бұрын
Great stuff...you can do this with an eastern grip. Fed plays with an eastern grip. I think it is just a matter of practicing this shot...that is why we have a ton of drills and practice guide inside the court...because it is a shot that is NOT practiced very often! Great analysis of your game! I am sure you will improve a lot
@CoffeeBreakTennis6 жыл бұрын

@YashSharma-pd3zw6 жыл бұрын
I think my rate is at 60% mainly due to my lack of net play :/
