The song references 4 songs by the extraordinary Laura Nyro: He's a Runner (1966), Stoned Soul Picnic (1968), Beads of Sweat (1970) and Nyro's mindblowing cover of Gonna Take a Miracle (1971). The vocal influenced by Nyro's Captain for Dark Mornings (1969). Nyro "probably influenced more successful songwriters than anyone" (Elton John). The Tennis song Mean Streets is a tribute to Nyro.

The synths are incredible. Heavy, but also weightless and spacial! Ethereally beautiful. They do indeed evoke nostalgia and powerful inner emotions.

It’s actually very biblical. In a very edgy way. Manna in the dessert, meaning when the Israel people was in the desert food miraculously appeared. “It’s gonna take a miracle. “If I turn into a pillar of salt” meaning if she look back at sodom she betrayed and it’s her flaunt. In all the word RUNNER is cheating. They will never cheat on each other. 😀

Still can't get enough of this song. I have listened to everything you posted on KZbin and I must say that vibe in this song is the best on the edge of 70's and 80's is great. If you would be able to patent it into whole album you would get a worldwide success. Perhaps a 'colab' with someone? Just wish you the best...hoping for more marvelous thingd to come.

i discovered this song in february 2020. the last month before the pandemic took its toll. i would always listen to it while on a ride to work. that winter was a pleasantly cold one, and i felt peace and joy of living and enjoying simple, pleasurable things. several months later, i got COVID and, to this day, more than two years later, am still struggling with health problems the infection triggered. i love this song and gladly listen to it, truthfully, while reminiscing, because it marks probably the last time i felt happy, at ease and complete. for me, it all went downhill from there.
