@intosport : Thanks for your message. I am getting better now, my knee is not sore but it takes more time for full recovery. I am going to practice again on nextweek
@7daniel4914 жыл бұрын
@intosport i definitely agree. two things thought, slow down the comparison between flat and kick and play at different times so i can watch both of them. and you hit on this, but it was hard to understand. how you create the topspin on the ball. the part when your elbow is extending, just for easier understanding. thanks, great video!

That just means that you are doing something that your body isn't used to. I had shoulder problems when i switched from a quick release serve from my full looping swing serve. I had to change back to my old serve because it hurt too bad. Check and see if your stroke has changed in anyway since you have started hurting.

should you hit the ball at the back and go up the back of the ball or are you supposed to hit it at top?

the twist serve is a combination of the topspin serve and the slice serve.
@AtlantisArch14 жыл бұрын
@MegaMrlong "behind you" means in your back, not behind you and the net. a kick serve is a must in double for service-volley move and the ball must be played just in your back but between you and the net to allow u to get in forward motion during serve. this is not a flat serve, u dont put ur shooting arm/shoulder forward as u serve
@Anyataylorjoi5 жыл бұрын
Is a kick serve the same as topspin serve
@chrisplayaa15 жыл бұрын
u can use a different grip for the kick serve too...
@markwasilewski628012 жыл бұрын
I'm short too. I am only 5'6 and the way i can hit a kick serve is from lots of leg movement. I pretend like i'm sitting in a chair before i actually hit the ball. Plus make sure you are swinging UP with your racket so you get good kick.
@PhillipsaGenius11 жыл бұрын
Benedict Harrison--If you're tossing the ball to the left but still not getting a kick, you might not be swinging correctly, or you're not watching contact. Try to swing so contact happens while the racquet is parallel to the ground to some extent.

Topspin and slice is really tough for me to learn! Can slice out fairly wide but the only one I can do well is a big flat serve! Shame thought cuz slice and topspin is more of a skillful serve I feel!
@infilt14 жыл бұрын
I have one question. In table tennis top spin shots usually bounce lower than normal, not higher. Is it perhaps the difference in materials that makes a the balls react differently?

similar, are u talking about the american twist?
@Matthew98189 жыл бұрын
Well my last comment on this was 2 years ago. I can do this serve. I would say it's more of a kick serve than regular topspin. You can't hit this serve hard. More of a second serve, serve. I like my kick serve thought. I just throw it more over my head. Nice safe second serve and the spin can be hard to deal with it you go up on the ball really hard. I have quite a deep knee bend so I do.

Does a more extreme serve grip such as the semi-western backhand make the topspin serve easier to complete as it seems to me to add more spin to the ball, or is a continental grip much better for getting more consistency out of the serve? Thanks for the video.

@BUBBAJ1010 Actaully it's not. If you pause the video precisely when she hits the ball, her feet are still in the air (I know your comment is over a year old, I just had to say it anyway).
@austinmoore843412 жыл бұрын
Taller guys usually struggle with drop shots or you can hit it to their feet. but this doesn't work against all tall people. but it usually works.
@MightbeWhite12 жыл бұрын
foot faulting is when your foot goes into the court before contact, it can go on the line but now over it

@TheMasterSOAP try throwing the ball infront of you more, if its into the net dont throw as far infront of you. my coach helps me with that.

forehand grip for topspin serve and swing almost straight up. Kick serve is backhand grip and swing is angled out...don't keep arm straight, but let it come back toward your body bent at elbow.
@fivos83310 жыл бұрын
I didnt know there was only one grip for forehand...
@marcisikoff10 жыл бұрын
There isn't. What I've found is that many, if not most of the pros I've talked to say they use the same grip for forehand shots as they do for topspin serve.
@fivos83310 жыл бұрын
which is?
@marcisikoff10 жыл бұрын
I use Contintental for power serve. I use Semi-Western for forehand topspin and topspin serve. Eastern grip for backhands and slice serve. Don't confuse kick and topspin. Topspin is 6 to 12, kick is 7/8 to 1/2. I use topspin second serve in deuce court, and kick serve in ad court.
@fivos83310 жыл бұрын
You mean eastern or semi eastern for spin serves, at most continental for a slice serve... The main if not only difference between top spin serve and kick is where you throw the ball.
@BboyLancelot213 жыл бұрын
@BL4CKR0ZE Try using your wrist more!
@hattrickster3315 жыл бұрын
These are good videos but in my opinion the topspin serve is much harder to get right consistently than a slice serve and shouldn't be used too often, especially on big points. It might be more likely to go in than a flat serve, but the chance of messing it up is bigger than with a slice serve.

@GreatestCreation90915 жыл бұрын
What I mean is, what if he played with his dominant hand. So, all his forehand shots were right handed, serve right handed. More power, more spin, more control. He could possibly be better than he already is which is scary because he is already #2 in the world.

let the ball drop a little more before hitting it. That way you wont swipe alot of side spin. Also, don't toss it so far behind you, otherwise you end up with the twist a.k.a kick serve.

No one ever telling, do we have to relax wrist when serving and doing forehand or you have to keep your racket firmly in your hand ??
@jwoodward10111 жыл бұрын
not what it means at all....a possibility yes, but I have the same problem. Lack of warming up properly or having joint problems are most probable cause. That's like saying Nadal has bad movement and that's what resulted in his knee problems...

it may be that your racquet may be to big or heavy for you
@swalterstennis4 жыл бұрын
Good video but you should adjust the grip a little past continental. No biggie. Also, close the stance so you can easily swing from LEFT to RIGHT. And, don’t worry about going forward so much as in the other serves. You’re mainly going UPWARD, and to the right. And, as far as disguise, don’t worry too much about that. Everyone knows the 2nd serve is going to be topspin. You can disguise the first serve a little but you can’t really disguise an American Twist topspin.

Haha yea but the height does make a difference. Playing against taller guys is really intimidating to me. I guess I just got to believe in myself and practice even harder!
