I've been trying to develop good topspin for years with modest success. Until now. I watched this video and you brought a lot of things together for me. I went out the next day to practice with some easy ball feeds and put what I learned into practice. My topspin has suddenly doubled in rotation speed. At least it seems so to me and my practice partner. Thank you!! I am now a paying member of this great channel. Cheers!

I have always tried to produce a lot of top spin and always struggled with consistency (too long too often) by doing so and what an amazing and simple advice is provided in the step two of this lesson, it helped me a lot to produce a truly heavy top spin without loosing too much power but the most important thing is now I feel I top spin and the control is also there so I can produce way more confident shots within the boundaries of the court. Hi Simon, it's probably the best lesson on topspin on the entire KZbin. Thank you so much! I have one question - why does this racket angle (facing the ground) in step 2 increase the topspin? At the moment of contact with the ball the racket seems to be open just as much as the other "flatter" way of hitting if you go in both options from bottom to top. So what's the secret behind it?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Жыл бұрын
Mainly the fact that the strings being closed forces the player to use a low to high swing and the racket angle is more tilted than on the flat shot. If you try to close the strings and finish low, the ball typically goes into the ground or net. So the closed angle forces you to hit upwards at contact and this along with the angle of the strings prior to contact increases the spin rate

You can show us on the court what to do, and maybe show either what the pro player does in these specific movements, hunting videos and cropping these moments of the pros that do correctly what we do wrong 4) Then you send this video to us .... So what do you think? All the Best

Because of this channel, after only 6 months of playing 20-90 minutes a day, I am now a very respectable tennis player. My ground strokes are just about flawless (mechanically) a large portion of the time. (Well, when my feet get me into position!) To the guy who creates these videos, I just wanted to say, Thank you. EDIT: One more thing: as someone who has a one-handed backhand, is it normal to feel like your POWER is satisfactory (compared to your forehand) but your topspin feels insignificant (compared to your forehand.) Meaning, if I had to guess, I'd say I'm able to generate 85% of my forehands power with my backhand, but my SPIN-RATE feels closer to 50%. Or, is this unusual and implies that my backhand is far too flat as opposed to low-to-high?

Outstanding video !!. How would you be able to not be push back and stand strong and dictate point when you have a high topspin above your shoulder from the baseline. Ex. Nadal strategy. Half volley will give a softer ball to the opponent without moving back but opponent will dictate point. Would you change angle for such high topspin shot and creating variance that makes your game inconsistent?

I'm happy for you to embed this video on a website, I'm happy for you to share it, we want to help more players improve, however, what we don't like is when someone takes our lessons in English, translates them into another language and then uploads it onto Weibo or a similar platform and makes money off our lessons without our knowledge which has happened many times before. We have millions and millions of views in China on their version of KZbin and people are making money off the lessons without our consent or prior knowledge. Apart from that, I'd be happy for you to embed this video on your website etc

Are there good drills to learn Simon’s forehand (with the racket face down in the power position). for almost everyone it’s very difficult to reach this position in the right way. The racket face is not flat or the racket doesn’t “flip”. You only see the pros doing this well. And Simon!

Would love to see a video on how to stay loose while hitting. Watching pro's practice, it's hard to replicate. My tennis instructor keeps emphasizing the one thing I'm doing wrong is gripping the racket too tight and swinging too hard. It's not a "skill", but it's important and hard to achieve for most amateurs. Thanks
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Two things that can help you to stay loose are: 1. Not gripping the racket to tight. Allow the fingers to lift off the grip in the prep phase then hold them normal on the way forwards. You'll see how loose you can be, and find that relaxation. 2. Breathing - when you don't exhale through the contact point, the body gets tight. Check out this lesson on breathing - kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2HMhnx6htWAfqM

Can you please explain same topic but for balls that are hitting from middle of the court. I have problem with this balls because even applying top spin and when I add more power balls are flying out of the court. If I apply less power - it is easy for opponent to return the ball. I still can’t find the middle in this:(

When you have mid court balls, especially the mid-height or higher ones, you want to flatten out the shot - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWWvcnWdjstphdE

Hi very decent technique instructions - BUT surely the grip should be demonstrated in the very first instance..?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Since this video focuses on three different strokes, the forehand, the one-hander and the two-hander, and all three will require different grips and a wide range of grips would work, we didn't add the grip as we have covered grips in detail in the individual lessons. For example, forehand grip is covered here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4vNaHd_esunhsk

Ok but still a valid point ? - maybe an Idea to point out in the vid the grip scenario available with links as you show now - but thanks a lot - can I be your groundsman as I have lived in Wimbledon😄

I tried to do Topspin on my forehand but it hurts my wrist how do I do topspin in a way not to hurt the wrist as I'm already injured
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial3 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to generate topspin with using the wrist motion. I’d suggest having a break from forehands and working more on the other areas of your game, strokes that you don’t feel pain with. If it’s all round, time for a break and rebuild the forearm muscles before coming back
@gal3863 жыл бұрын
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial that’s what my trainer said he will teach me to do topspin when my wrist will be better I will just play easy on the forehand

Hi I have a question about using the leg with open stands lifting up How can I be more efficiency to transfer my body weight forward Every time when I lift up the ball my body usually goes up only Not up and forward Thank you
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Try to load up on the outside leg (right leg for right-handers) and then jump onto the left leg from the open stance. This will ensure you go up and forward. All the best Simon

Out of curiosity, what makes the top 50 players much better than the other players, would it be the mental game? Or just experience?

So how do you hit down the line?I can hit it cross court but not down the line.
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
It's all to do with the racket angle. Make sure the racket is facing your target at contact. An easy way to get it down the line is to use the neutral stance more

How much does it cost to play on grass where you are? Here in Canada these are extremely rare
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Many older clubs have grass courts here in the UK. Following Wimbledon. At our club, we have 5 grass courts and the hard courts get played on 10x more due to the bounces
@danielmichael36103 жыл бұрын
what's the use of a grass tennis court other than producing incredibly unpredictable bounce-ups??

Forhad/backhand most impactful topspin or flat sir who is most effective and international matches like Djokovic Nadal alcaez sir players lots of man times top spin / falt shorts always play. Who is most useful in matches ? Flat/topspin??
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial2 жыл бұрын
You need both. Anyone who has only one style is one dimensional. Work on both. Djokovic, Federer and Nadal can all play with heavy topspin and can flatten it out. Hope that makes sense. Best of luck Simon
