The tip at 6:29 is brilliant. I tend to grip the racket way too tight and end up losing power in my shots and becoming fatigued easily. Definitely will following the advice on keeping the fingers loose when taking the racket back and then grip tighter on the swing. Cheers

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I watched your video on the one-handed backhand. But I'm always making contact with the ball too late. The great thing about this wrist lag video is that mastering your last drill effectively guarantees I won't hit the ball late. If there were a similar drill for the one-handed backhand or other tips for getting the timing and spacing right, that would be most useful.

Re: possible future lesson. Like most club players my age I only play doubles these days and am getting a bit confused by some of today's positing Eg. As to the reasoning why the server's partner now stands in a central position at the net and is their any truth that doubles partners should image they are attached together by a piece of string when they move about court? Just basic stuff really. Thank you. Tony.

Nice video, last drill/exercise rocks! It would be a great idea to see a video about kinetic chain and drills to automate an efficient body transfer for the forehand. I tend to turn exageratelly to the sides, spoil the equilibrium and loose lot of energy applied to the ball as a consecuence, specially when the rally is at high speed.

Hi guys. Great video. The question is "What is first, the chicken or the egg"? What does initiate locking the wrist? is it hip movement, or locking motion of my wrist (but it should be relaxed at that time), or something else that I did not get it?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
It comes from a relaxed wrist and using the body correctly to uncoil but the wrist being laid back slightly in the swing also helps. It all goes together

Great demo and explanation as usual . At what stage of junior development would you recommend / introduce racket lag ?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
For many juniors, they’ll be using lag to some degree once they start playing high level regional/national in their age group. It can always be improved but often that comes from creating an ideal swing for them. That’s work that should be done as soon as they can hit the ball and rally

Thanks for the awesome video! I have a question. At 9:00, you said the coach can play with the racket angle. What's the difference between the racquet facing the ground or facing the right side of court? Does facing the ground creates more top spin, and facing the side of the court hits a more flat shot? Thanks.
