I appreciate seeing Gauff talking to the umpire after the match to cool things down. She's sometimes shown bad attitude on court but at 18 she's still growing and that was pretty mature from her (even if this maturity is obviously triggered by her win lol). I hope her new status as a GS finalist will help her keeping this great attitude on court.

I happen to know that they were very short of officials that week in Eastbourne, resulting in people spending 1h30 or 2hr shifts across 3 different courts over 9 or 10 hours, with much shorter rest periods for food and rehydration. Sometimes there are incorrect calls from human beings. Relax, everyone is trying their best.

@@PL-rl5ps it’s easy to say "calm down, everyone is trying their best" if it’s a cashier who’s off by a few cents on your change. However, these are professionals who have expenses that tear through their earnings and every win counts. Some of these calls are absolutely atrocious. If you’re not capable of doing your job, then you shouldn’t have it. There are too many people who work the lines and sit in the chair that are too incompetent. It's kind of funny that the umpire on the foot fault call can't even explain to the player that the foot fault can be called from the moment she start serving, it doesn't have to be when she hits the ball. She was way to the left of the center line.

She's right, though. The umpire is not in the best position to judge a foot fault normally, but Routliffe's foot was so far over the line that she could confidently judge it even from that angle. That's why she's saying she wouldn't have called it if it weren't so obvious.

@@einarsd4 Ostapenko hit the ball kid with racquet...
@einarsd4
@einarsd4 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-dc4sm3lg1z Nope, she didn't. Racquet didn't even touch the ball kid. Racquet landed far from the ball kid. Besides it wasn't even a throw at all. For your information, it's impossible to throw something while running or moving. And she was running towards the ball and as she was trying to reach the ball with her racquet, the racquet fell from her hands. Racquet throw requires separate hand movement, but in this case, there were not any. The only hand movement which she did was her attempt to return the ball. So explain to me, how it was racquet throw, if there wasn't any separate hand movements or any hand movements to throw the racquet for that matter? Or you will admit that you are delusional loser and clown who loves to write absolute bullshit about Ostapenko?

Are you idiot or what? In 2019 Linz Final, she was horrible towards Ostapenko. Made absolutely incorrect decision. There should have been replay of the point or point to Ostapenko, because Ostapenko's unforced error happened after line umpire called out. That was clear mistake by your beloved Kjendlie. So she isn't as good umpire as you say.
