People act as if Novak didn't have to fight for his GOAT status against 2 other GOAT candidates... No athlete had to do that. Serena didn't have to play against Steffi and Martina, Ali didn't have to fight against Tyson, Jordan didn't have to play against Lebron or Russell... The same goes for Messi, Phelps, Bolt... No one had to play against 2 other GOAT candidates. Most of them not even against one. Because of his achievements but above all because of the competition against whom he won it all, Novak is perhaps the greatest athlete of all time.

THERE is no way I will buy this. Not one title this whole year (keep your 'he wasn't fit...' in your brainless box), his last attempt at Olympic gold, on his least favorite surface, and he wins it, against a player who's been on a roll winning majors and made this final? As I have been saying all along, since at least 2022, unless the ITF, ATP and Others look deep into any and all possible Briberies of all top 200 players, their bank accounts, cell and computers use (including Public), landline phones if possible, this novaq is not legitimate (in that period). When some players lose to him who should have likely not lost to him, it is a mental game against the others playing novaq. There IS a serious Serbian mafia, too, and filthy rich white gamblers want their white knight to win more and more. Racists call this "wake up, you are dreaming" and "go see your doctor" yet, EVIDENCE is everywhere the cheating for teams and athletes happens in EVERY sport, and novaq's fans think (I doubt they actually know how to) tennis is clean. Okay then./\/\/\/

Cool fact, Djokovic turned pro, Alcaraz wasn't even born! Alcaraz was born five months after Djokovic already started playing professional tennis for five months (May 2003 - Alcaraz was born, Djokovic turned pro January 2003). Djokovic first grand slam debut happened at the AO in 2005, Alcaraz was about a year and a half. Djokovic first appearance at the Olympic games happened in 2008 when Alcaraz was only 5! Djokovic beat Alcaraz at the 2024 Olympic Games (Alcaraz at 21 and Djokovic at 37), being the oldest Olympic games champion ever! It's insane how Djokovic has been playing tennis professionally for longer than Alcaraz has been alive!

One last thing on the lack of respect shown for Novak - the NBC broadcast in English had the two worst tennis announcers of all time, which made the audio during the live match virtually unlistenable, and rewatching Novak's crowning achievement lacks the pleasure that it should have had the McEnroe brothers been giving the task to do the commentary. These two announcers on the NBC Peacock broadcast had no analysis of strategy, shot selection, serve selection and placement, service speed (Alcaraz was down several MPH from Wimbledon), second serve strategy, Alcaraz's incredibly deep return of serve position from previous matches. What in the world were these 2 people doing on the broadcast. They called Novak "Nadal". They said the lack of a Gold Medal was the "biggest" hole in his resume when it was the only hole in his resume. They never explained the new graphics on Reaction Time, they never mentioned service speed in MPH despite this being an American NBC broadcast. They confused cross-court passing shots with down-the-line passing shots. The errors were never-ending... Perhaps we can get the McEnroe brothers to overdub it with real tennis insight and commentary.

I don't understand why the number of ATP titles is even counted and why Grand Slam titles and 250-point ATP tournament titles are equated. That makes no sense. After all, different levels of ATP tournaments award different numbers of ATP points for titles. How can one equate titles from 250-point tournaments to those from 2000-point Grand Slams? Comparing ATP titles only makes sense if you compare the total number of ATP points earned from those titles. Of course, Novak is far, far ahead of Nadal and Federer in that respect.

Indeed. Had Alcaraz won one more point in the first tie break making it 7-6 (7-4); 7-6 (7-2) it would have been the exact same score. Great irony of fate.

He's been our (Serb) GOAT for a few years now. I have no expectations, no demands, nothing to ask from Novak anymore. If he wants to get one more Monte Carlo, maybe one more Wimby or RG - OK. We'll celebrate with him. But I/Serbs mostly hope that he's happy, healthy and at peace. Good luck Nole, whatever you decide to do. And thanks.

lets not forget, literally everyone and everywhere in the “western world” he was being bullied, not being allowed to play because he was a threat to general public health, where i see that he is a man of principles…. he was expelled from Australia, not being allowed to enter USA, disqualified for an incident where others made even worse incidents than him…. imagine if without all that nonsense he was allowed to play?! to reach what he did required a lot, lot, lot of sacrifice, something that most of the elite sport people couldn’t do. Carlitos has a great potential to surpass Nole, but as of the moment he is to young to judge. Its not about his game, but its about his ability to stay fit long enough and thats why Novak is best athlete of all time. he simply moves borders of what is possible…. I will give bold statement now. he will win at least 3 more grand slams and 3 more 1000s, only thing that can stops him is his body (people eventually age) and injustice. God bless that guy, and i am so happy that he belongs to my people, we are so lucky to have him among us! He stands next to Tesla and Pupin as one of the greatest Serbian ever to live! If you want to describe Serbian people thats where you need to look. Look at Djokovic!

@@nikhils2381 hmm, wonder why nobody has been able to capitalize on this worst shot weakness while the man keeps winning grand slam after grand slam now at *24 grand slams* , all with a horrible overhead. @@sohailhines bro first of all, chill. i am jk. secondly, if you actually followed djoko career since 2007, you will know that missing easy overheads has cost him dearly in several matches. the 2008 olympics semis against Nadal and 2023 wimby final vs alcraz are just to name a few. but anyways, nole still the undisputed GOAT
@sohailhines
@sohailhines Ай бұрын
You *may* have a point but how can one prove that it was those exact overhead points that cost him the entire match? I've been watching Djokovic for over twenty years and have not once had anyone say that his overhead is weak. Even Ivanišević as his coach said the Nole was never satisfied with aspects of his game even after I. approved during practice. Which is to say that Djokovic would already have worked to improve it *even if it had been a shortcoming* in 2007/2008. The comment above suggests that he's *still* weak in that aspect and I cannot agree.

Not going to lie, I was certain he would win in 2016, he was in the best form of his life, I always think 2015-2016 Novak was almost unplayable, yet the unthinkable happened and lost to Delpo in the 1st round. That one stung. But as the gladiator he is, he finally did it, against all odds, when almost everyone thought he was done and out in terms of Olympics.
